Super User Oregon Native Posted January 25, 2019 Author Super User Posted January 25, 2019 Oh …. my. Mama's working on the West Coast and found out would be going by myself and asked me nicely to not go by myself…...pooop. Went to the show yesterday and it was great...bigger and better for sure. So here I am on pins and needles trying to decide what to do. There are a few things I could do.....do I want to.....not really...but then if I did them on a day like this it would free up (maybe) another day or two. My honey do list is really short due to the boat being in the shop for the Holidays.....oh …. mannnnnn. Well...I vented.....thanks for listening. Sunday is now my next chance. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 25, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 25, 2019 If it gets above 35 or so I will probably be launching both days this weekend. If it’s wjndy + cold I’ll be bank fishing. Let me know if you need a ride Quote

You can thank @Glenn for her finding out, after all he did make this site public. LOL hopefully she doesn't read the post where you spent $10k on tackle last year. I won't say anything! ? 3 Quote

But...got a bunch more stuff done and was rewarding day....first time I've washed my truck in 38 degree temps......but.....the sun was on it. I have been helping a lady too who lost her husband as was at ends with what to do with all his fishing stuff including boat...this has taken a bunch of time too but it's a good thing. On the downside with help from friends really making a difference. Today is grandsons championship basket ball game and then on to a big game dinner in Lenoir City. Fingers are crossed for Sunday and Monday....oh so crossed. 10 hours ago, N Florida Mike said: Dang. I admire your braving the cold. Thought I was a die-hard. Was is the key word. Actually walked the golf coarse yesterday for exercise and kept thinking ….when I get home I'll go....it was soo soooo nice out. But..kept my promise. But..next time she leaves I'm going to run silent!!! 2 Quote

Super User Oregon Native Posted January 28, 2019 Author Super User Posted January 28, 2019 Oh...what a feeling. Arrived at ramp yesterday to one trailer and believe it was a hunter. Of coarse this changed after a couple hours when it warmed up. The ol girl is purring.....feels so good. Boat hasn't hit the mid 60's in a long time. Of coarse I didn't really hit it too hard as I wasn't really dressed for the occasion. Don't usually go all out in winter. Water was a bit dirty down below and running around 46 degrees or so. Was trying different baits (why I don't know) trying to see if something else would work when the back of my head said keep it simple!! Ended up with some dinks and one nice little keep. Was good to feel the ol wind in the face. Seems like to me that deeper fish are more stable on the Hill this time of year but not always. So as I have my coffee this morning I'm thinking....hmmmm…..what's the game plan today. Supposed to be a nice nice day. Next two days not so much.....but today warm...up to 50 they say. Well...fingers are crossed....last but not least a HUGE thankyou Lord for giving me another day on the water. 1 Quote

Super User geo g Posted January 29, 2019 Super User Posted January 29, 2019 I sure hope they found the problem and your baby is fixed. I have been through this before before I repowered. The other problem is once you lose confidence in an engine, once you turn it off out on the lake you always have the nagging question, are you going to start again. It got so bad I only ran into the wind so the boat would drift back toward the ramps with the help of the T/M. I did this for years after losing confidence, the only answer was a new Yamaha repower, and a feeling you can go anywhere, anytime, with no problema! Quote

I had a evinrude that was unpredictable like that. Got it worked on numerous times. General diagnosis was always something to do with the heater coil. It would start normally after launching, and make a perfect run to the first stop. Then it would start and you'd go 200-300 feet and it would cut off. It would do this several times before it might just not start atall. Several times I almost just unhooked it and dropped it overboard. Never could get it right so I sold it . 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted January 29, 2019 Author Super User Posted January 29, 2019 Well....went again yesterday. Was the third boat on the water....sheesh...this guys are getting tougher now!! With the big ol front coming in it was tough again. Did manage a couple keepers but again the ol girl decided to pout....could not get over five grand on the tach. Gosh...I know more than one person is pulling hair but again I will unload the boat/tackle box. But not until after I use it this sat in a tourney. At least I don't have to run far I don't believe to catch fish. (I hope) I may start just using a carry on bag....(sadness) and two up my visits to get a lottery ticket !!
