KP Duty Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 More compact and 'tough' is what jp daiwa website says. 5.29oz. Holds 70yds of 12lb line. https://www.digitaka.com/item.php?item=4960652005074 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted January 22, 2019 Super User Posted January 22, 2019 I've heard this reel is going to retail for around $700 in the states! Not sure if that is true or not though. I will be a player on the Alphas CT. Quote

basshtx Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 The reel will sell for around $500, it holds a small amount of line, and does not have an external brake dial, also the body is magnesium so that's a no for saltwater use. Seems like a complete failure in my book. My favorite reel is still my Steez A TWS. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted January 23, 2019 Super User Posted January 23, 2019 Yeah, if Digitaka has it for $470 it will be $550-$600 here most likely. Quote

The reel's supposed to be more expensive than the current Steez SV TW which will, after Daiwa's 2019 2% price increase across the board starting to come, be closer to 520$. Guessing that puts this new 30mm spool Steez around the 575(Ish) mark when it gets sent stateside. I won't be bothering with this reel. Love the Steez SV TW and Steez A's. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted January 23, 2019 Super User Posted January 23, 2019 I am always intrested in small frame reels but I didn’t feel like the Steez SV TW was “worth” $500 so if I do get a Steez CT it will be once they hit the used market. I really wish the Alphas CT looked better, I love the Alphas frame reels but there are so many better looking variants out there. I am also a bit cranky Daiwa went with a 30mm spool instead of a 31mm one. Quote
Big-Bass Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 TW has the Steez SV TW up to $550 and the A at $500 due to the 1/15/19 price increase. With all this new stuff coming out, I am just happy that I have my SV105s and SV103s. Newer is often nicer, but not always better. Quote
KP Duty Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 These prices are indeed high...even for the enthusiast level. I have a couple of the new steez tw's, but paid $380. Most I've ever paid for a reel. When the government reopens and the dollar gets stronger, I will be game for at least the new certate. Quote

I am very happy my sv103’s and sv105’s but I do prefer the Steez SV/A frame size and shape to the sv103. Quote
