Barbelface Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 Just a quick introduction. My name is Jeremy and i’ve Recently moved down here from Vancouver, BC. I usually fish for Salmon/Steelhead but also dabble with Smallmouths on Vancouver island. I used to fish Castaic Lagoon 20 years ago, mainly for Carp (I’m English and love fishing for these fish). Anyway, I’ve just purchased a baitcasting outfit and was wondering what Castaic lagoon is like now? I see you have to pay to park these days! I only plan on fishing after work in the evenings. Is there any advice somebody could give on access etc. I need to learn a bit more about LM bass but I’ve fished all over the world so techniques should be easy tolearn. any advice would be welcome ? Reel Assassin Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Hi, Jeremy, I have relocated just south of lake Castaic in the Canyon Country part of Santa Clarita myself and have zero knowledge about the Lagoon but I am very interested in it myself. I'm an old retired fart that my wife convinced to relocate here to be near our youngest three grand-daughters. I grew up bass fishing but then turned to the "dark-side" by getting hooked on saltwater fishing while I was living on the Gulf Coast of Texas. By best fiend who was an American Indian and I used to "bow fish" for carp of lake spillways giving our fish to the poor back when we were teenagers that is my only experience with carp except knowing they get very big. I'll be looking for advice also especially since for the first time I find myself boat-less. Tight lines and best of luck! ? Quote
Broda805 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 trying to get back into the fishing scene id like to know as well! Quote
Barbelface Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 Well, I went and had a few casts from the fishing pier last night just as it was going dark. Hooked into what must have been a trophy boulder on my last cast... other than that it was a beautiful evening, but no action. I was casting a green crawfish t-rigged with 3/8th tungsten slider. 20 lb braid to 10lb Fluorocarbon leader 3/0 EWG. Guess that's NOT the right bait to use this time of year ? Quote
