I am considering changing insurance company for my boat after the way they treated on a claim on my camper (said it was only worth less than half the value, totaled it out and said it was invalid claim. Etc anything to get out of paying claim).

What are some names of insurance companies that you have had claims with and your experiences good or bad.  Would you recommend and why?

I know it’s a lot to ask.

I had progressive insurance for my boat but never had a claim in 10 years. They did credit me annually so I had no deductible after a few years. Try your homeowners as they have coverage or have a partner they recommend.

I've had Metropolitan for house and vehicle for 30+ years - a claim on the house (storm damage), 2 claims on vehicles - one charged to the other driver - and always great service without my premiums reaching for the sky.

I added the canoe with TM last year, added the trailer this year, and the premium is very affordable.

As long as Met does business, I'll stick with them.

Farm Bureau  seems to be fairly popular in my area with 250 & 500 ded   A 22K boat is about 200 a yr

Hello and welcome to the forum. I have my boat insurance with American Modern. I have not had any claims with them. I just renewed my insurance and the agent told us to keep the boat insurance separate. If you add it on your homeowners and some thing happens them the claim goes against your house.

Hello Mark and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

If you are eligible ~ USAA is fantastic.

And they offer quite a bit more than insurance.

As far as I know, USAA does not offer boat insurance but partners with Progressive... Highly recommend USAA. Not always the lowest price, but always close... and the CUSTOMER SERVICE is elite, next to none.

 Redundant.

I've had Progressive for years and been really happy with them. Spun a bearing an hour from the house once and after a quick call, answered a few questions, boat and trailer was on a flatbed and headed home, not a dime out of pocket.

Thanks for all your replies. I have had Farm Bureau insurance since 1988, home owner, trucks, car, 2 boats, and camper with them.  Their personal service with clients has gone down hill.  Now they have their and 3rd party claim agents that disallow claims anyway they can.  Never received a copy of the camper insurance until after the claim was disallowed and camper totaled out, but they still wanted premium for policy.  After the treatment I have received on 2 claims, I am afraid of what may happen if I have a claim on my Ranger. Also just received a questionnaire questioning the coverage I have on my ranger for 11 years.  That why I am looking at other insurance coverage

I've had State Farm for all of my homeowners and vehicle insurance since 1987.  I've had multiple claims and all have been handled very well leaving me with no complaints.  I hear many people complain that State Farm is expensive but I have shopped all of my policies with all of the major companies several times over the years and no one comes close to beating State Farm, HOWEVER that is ONLY due to the fact that I have everything with State Farm.  Their multi-line discounts are enormous.  If you try to get a policy for just one vehicle the cost will be high.
