I have the Scorpion & this is what it has plus 8 bearings instead of 7.When I bought mine the L/H Curado was not Available. I don't have the Curado so I don't know if it has the following.
Durable aluminum alloy body frame Hagane body
I-DC5 computer controlled brake system
Anti-rust treated ball bearings for long life
Carbon drag washers
Extra efficient X-SHIP gear system
Clicking star drag
Hyper-tensile brass gears
Balanced S3D spools
Super free spool design
Titanium coated level winder
Saltwater fine

I like the color of the Scorpion better, but the Curado is a little cheaper .

the scorpion is $266.39 shipped today. check the value of the $ to the yen each day when you are ready to buy. I paid a few $ less shipped than the Curado. Like I said I don't have the Curado so I can't compare but I can tell you the Scorpion is a fine reel. I order most of my reels from Digitaka & have them with in 7 days.

I have both the scorpion dc and the Curado dc. The Scorpion has more break settings with the I-dc 5 system (Three line modes one for mono, one for fluorocarbon, and one for braid. Then four settings based on lure wait and then auto.) The Curado Dc has the I-dc 4 system witch only has 4 settings (one for mono, one for fluorocarbon, one for braid, and than auto). The scorpion dc feels just like a Curado 200 I in the hand and in retrieve. The Curado Dc is a little more bulky feeling in the hand but not uncomfortable. The retrieve feels just like a curado K does. There is a spool size difference though with the Scorpion dc being a 100 and the Curado dc being a 150. Both are great reels but if i were to buy another dc reel in that price bracket I would go with another Scorpion dc do to having more brake settings.

From reading the TT review of each, it appears the scorpion dc has a brass main gear, while the curado dc comes with the micro module (aluminum) gearing.

Sorry this is not quite accurate, the Curado DC like the Curado K, Bantam MGL and the Chronarch MGL have brass micro module gears.

Thanks.  Trying to research the two myself.  Havent owned a shimano since the mg50.  Back then they didn't have all these trademarked 'improvements'.  Well not as many anyway. Is the 5 setting dc system known to be better than the 4 setting version?

Not necessarily, both are excellent braking systems its just that with the I-dc5 system you have more adjust ability for different waited baits.

Not to throw a wrench in the decision, but used Met DC'S can be had for just a little more

Was just deciding between these 2 myself. As someone who uses 6'6-6'8 max sized rods and baits 1/2oz or less (and I have smaller hands), I decided to run with the Scorpion. I won't lie, I liked the look better and you can read all the reviews you want... they're pretty much the same thing. Take your pick, both great and worth the $.

In addition, I wanted something to reduce my occasional backlashing and I currently only have 1 other baitcaster (Shimano Curado) so the additional brake settings on the Scorpion was the best fit for me. Don't really care about the bearing design vs the Curado DC as much as I did the brakes on the Scorpion.

I have both reels, also have a SLX DC.  I am about to order another DC reel for myself and also one for my son (for Christmas).  According to my research online, it states that the Curado DC and Scorpion DC both have the same line capacity 110 yards at 12 pound (mono). But I have to say, having spooled all three lines, it just seems to me that the Scorpion actually had less capacity (BUT! I used braid in the SLX and Curado) and 17 pound (?) mono in the Scorpion.

Which is better?  All three are great, the SLX is a better deal than the Curado.  The SLX is a smooth reel, though in side by side comparison, the Curado DC is slightly smoother with it's micro gearing.  I don't think you would notice a difference if you used one this weekend and the other reel the following weekend - you'd only notice side by side comparing.  The Scorpion feels more like the Curado than the SLX (on a side by side basis in terms of smoothness). I don't feel any real difference in smoothness between the Scorpion and Curado DC reels.

I believe the Scorpion has a slightly higher drag rating (by 1 pound, 12 vs. 11 pounds). But this may be nothing more than a calculation issue from metric to SAE(?).

The Scorpion feels like a slightly smaller reel.

To me, the benefit of the Scorpion is the new DC system vs. the Curado.  They are currently about the same price. The Scorpion is a Japan market reel - so that should be considered from a warranty perspective or possibly future spare parts!

When are the Curado/SLX/Other IDC-5 reels (in this price range) being released in the USA?  They seem to be unable to keep the build levels now in stock, these are tough reels and often sell at list price.  Surprisingly, of the 3, I am most likely to find the Scorpion at less than the retail price, and even less than the Curado selling price - for comparison.  Strong support and sales typically doesn't result in an upgraded version being released - that typically happens when the "old" reel starts to see falling demand and discounting prices . . . but who knows???

The scorpion dc is the better model due to its multiple brake selections. Since both the Scorpion and Curado DC’s are around the same price point, can’t go wrong with the Scorpion.

I own the newest model that came out in 2021 (i know this an older post). The newer 2021 model holds the same amount of line but has an MGL ported spool. The Curado has the regular 151 spool.

However, both reels are great and provide DC capabilities. I just feel more comfortable with the Scorpion DC in harsh windy conditions. I can bomb casts directly into 30mph wind and not get a birds nest.

PS: The Shimano Zodias rod and Scorpion DC reels are a perfect match for each other IMO.
