Looking for a new dropshot rod and am interested in the Helium 3 7' ML. My current rod is an Avid X 7'0 ML that I love, I'd just like something a bit more sensitive. The 2 rods seem pretty similar in terms of specs and handle length which I like, a spinning rod with a long handle is a no go for me. Does anyone have experience with this rod?

I was on the Kistler site just before jumping on here. I had one in my cart, but decided to wait until next week.

It would be my second one. I like it a lot. I have a medium Zbone too and I think the Helium is a great value.

I saw the 21% off sale so that’s why I was shopping.

I should have one arriving today and hope to put it to use next weekend. I have had the casting 7"ML for over a year and dearly love it. Very sensitive rod like all of the Helium 3s.

No experience with the ML power but just got a 6’8” Light MH Helium 3 spinning for my wife. Like my other Helium 3 rods it’s really well finished, quality, lightweight and pretty balanced. Blank has a fantastic feel and taper. Can’t wait to fish it.

I do personally wish wish they’d use the Fuji VSS seats, but you can’t have everything. And like every other cork rod made today the cork is not the highest quality. But I still prefer cork so it is what it is.

I've owned a 7' ML H3 for 2 years now. It's become the only spinning outfit I use. Great for dropshot, and neds.

I've never fished an Avid ML to compare it with, but I'd definitely recommend the H3.

I don’t know. May need one. I need something like the 7’ ML for 1/16- 3/8 oz. casting rod. But I hate buying rods blind.

Dam You!!! You all suck. I just ordered a custom magnesium. I was about to do the helium, but then I saw you could do a magnesium for less. The He was $296, the magnesium was $256. My cheapness kicked in. I bet I get a call about my requests for 7’ 4” length on the ML and a 3.5” foregrip. If they could do it that would be great.

I fish both Avid and Helium 3.  The two are NOT an apple to apple comparison.

Can you clarify this statement a bit more?

Read both specs sheets.  Avid is an intermediate modulus graphite and the Helium is high strain modulus graphite.  That is where it begins.  The Avid would most likely be better compared with the KLX.  I fish both and the Helium is far more sensitive.
