What hooks are on the Pointer 78? I have a few in desperate need of new hooks. I know they are very suseptable to to tuning. What hooks?

They generally come with a size 6 VMC.  I have only replaced a few over the years and I like Owners Stinger Treble hook just a little bit better, same size.   They are just a bit thicker and more durable but they don't seem heavier.  They are definitely sharper (like bone crushing sharp).

Get a DEERING 10 Gram scale (purchase on-line or a smoke shop). Weigh the Pointer's treble hook. Buy a selection of hooks that look like they are the same. Weigh each to see who "wins"!

Yes, the Pointer is a suspending lure - you must get the hook replacement right. Likely have to settle on a slow sink or slow float. Your line is also a factor in how it slow floats or sinks (fluoro/mono), and can help in the matrix of getting the suspension you want. You may find a hook that is so close to the original that you'll have no worries.

I don’t know if they will get the weight right but Owner St-41s are the stickiest sharp hooks I have ever used. If you can combine them with the right size split rings to get it to suspend they are gold in my opinion.

Check Ebay Lucky Craft replacement hooks should be sold there. They are Vmc hooks but are chemically treated by Daichi.
