Super User Deleted account Posted January 17, 2019 Super User Posted January 17, 2019 Arkie jigs, power worms, sluggos, pork rind. No real reason, they still catch just as well or better than most things. When I take someone out just starting out, I usually tie a power worm and sluggo on for them, and more times than not they do well with them. Quote
aceman387 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I’ve gotten away from Texas rigging soft plastics in general to exclusively using them as a jig trailer in some form or another. Quote

I haven't tied the Rapala on in over 3 years and truly have no idea why. It use to be such a confidence bait for me. Back in the 70's, it was a gold Bagley's Bang-O-Lure (lol) or a gold jointed floating Rapala for me. As far as worms, it had to be Culprits. I still have some Rapalas, but haven't thrown them in years. Never buy Culprits anymore. Quote
Dangerfield Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Jitterbug / Hulapopper.. when I upgraded gear they got left behind, replaced with a hollow frog, pencil/rover and poppers. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 17, 2019 Super User Posted January 17, 2019 Man, i remember when the Floating Rapala was introduced, my first "Magic Bait". I still have several of the originals that I inherited from my dad. I really don't know why I haven't fished one in more than a decade. Maybe this year. 2 Quote
WVU-SCPA Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 I have a bags full of chigger craws that haven't hit the water in awhile. They caught plenty of fish until Rage craws became part of the arsenal. Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted January 17, 2019 Super User Posted January 17, 2019 Flukes for me, they were an early confidence lure, I love to fish them and have a "perfect" combo to do it on, but last season they rarely made an appearance. Quote
Happybeerbuzz Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Rapala Original Minnow. I know they work or it is one hell of a conspiracy spanning decades to convince me that they work. After 2.5 years of bass fishing I still haven’t caught anything. It no longer occurs to me to tie one on. Casting distance issues requires that I use my finesse spinning gear which is always loaded with a ned rig, drop shot, etc. so I find that I don’t bother anymore. Quote
stepup Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Spinner Baits. I will always reach for a Chatter Bait now instead of a Spinner Bait. Hula grubs. I used to fish a hula grub on a jig head alot. Now I usually grab a Jig or a T-Rigged Brush hog instead. Quote

Allen I was in the same situation last fall. Several years ago, I used to catch a lot of bass on the Slug-go but stopped using them for some unknown reason. I found a couple of bags of them buried deep in my shed. I rigged one up on my next outing and caught two chunky four pounders in less than 1/2 hour. Slug-gos are back in the rotation for next season, for sure! Tom Quote
813basstard Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 T-rig worm...I know, I know it’s like saying no to Pizza but since I found this thing called a jig, my hands just can’t seem to reach for the worms. Quote
ratherbfishin1 Posted January 17, 2019 Posted January 17, 2019 Ned rig, it works and I’ve caught fish I just never think to use it and really don’t love fishing it. Im gonna make a goal to fish it more this year. Quote
FCPhil Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 Mann’s 1 minus crankbait. Produced a lot but I just can’t resist throwing topwater. Quote
