wasabi_VA Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 I fish in a 8’ Bassbaby and space is limited. I currently use a short handled landing net that is the right size/length but it’s got a tangly net. I’d like to identify a good replacement, something with a rubber style net that isn’t as tangly. Pretty much have to shop online as no decent stores near me. Suggestions? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 16, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 16, 2019 I have this net. Rubberized netting, and it folds down to almost nothing when not in use, but it's easy to deploy with one hand if needed. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-gold-series-folding-landing-net 1 1 Quote

It sits behind my kayak seat and like you said it's one handed flip open in the times of need. I'm pretty sure it'll hold a world record size bass if needed....One can only dream! This Carp was 5.93lb's. Looks tiny in the net. Yes that's a lipless crankbait hanging from it's mouth. Quote
Hook2Jaw Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 Look up the Ego Wade series nets. I use a 17x19" rubber. Floats, short handle, excellent quality. I got mine off Amazon for around 50 bucks, if I remember correctly. Quote
wasabi_VA Posted January 16, 2019 Author Posted January 16, 2019 I really like the idea of that collapsible net and will be checking it out further. Thanks! Initially it seems a bit big, but maybe that's a non-issue since it collapses down so well. For comparison this is my existing net. Size-wise I'm still happy with it, just hoping to either replace the netting with a rubber style net or just buy a whole new net. This one has a 10" handle and a hoop opening that is around 16" long and 12" wide. Quote
moguy1973 Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 I use the BPS one that was posted above. Works great and stores nice and tidy. Quote
Abby Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 I have a short handled Frabill net for my kayak but haven't had a chance to use it yet. It got some good reviews on youtube fisherman I follow. Not sure on a long handled net tho.. Quote
wasabi_VA Posted January 16, 2019 Author Posted January 16, 2019 Looks like I can buy an Ego small rubber replacement net for only $16 - direct from Ego. I am leaning towards that at the moment Quote
waymont Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 I use this one and it's really great. https://www.amazon.com/EGO-WADE-Nets-Medium-Rubber/dp/B001TEOPRU/ref=asc_df_B001TEOPRU/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312065559007&hvpos=1o5&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17091282954803140963&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9021723&hvtargid=pla-569585112690&psc=1 Quote
Abby Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 When I musky fished I had a nice net but hated the bag itself. I was able to order the Beckman bag and just replace it. Way cheaper than buying a whole new system...I replace my steelhead wading net bag too, easy on and off. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 17, 2019 Super User Posted January 17, 2019 I have a floating wood handle Frabill trout net. I fish from a float boat sometimes and this thing is great for tight spaces. Quote
