Smokinal Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 Literal nightmares...had one last night. I set the hook on a big bass and when I started to reel, I see my reel was right handed! I went into full panic mode wondering how this happened! I clumsily tried taking up line with this oddity of a reel and cranking with my right hand....still makes me sweat Quote

No Doubt ~ And I will admit to getting some strange looks after I get off the water by any of the "Campers" that might still be knocking around in the dark. And for whatever reason, it's always one or two of the same songs . . Either "America the Beautiful" or "I've Been Working on the Railroad" . . . Super User Catt Posted January 12, 2019 Super User Posted January 12, 2019 Pat & I were back in a little cove one cloudy overcast night in his 15' Alweld; he was up front with me in the back. From where I was in the back of the boat the bank was maybe 15 yards away; suddenly we hear this loud high pitched scream that raised the hair on the back of our necks, then the sound of something crashing through the buck bush along the bank followed by something slashing through the water straight behind me. Before Pat could pull up the trolling motor I had the Suzuki fired up and was ricocheting off of stumps not stopping until we were a good ¼ mile off shore. Didn't know what it was but I knew where I aint! 1 5 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted January 12, 2019 Super User Posted January 12, 2019 Peacock I have a terrible nightmares. Bad enough that I soaked the sheets to the point my wife had to change them. I'll bet it took me five minutes for my pulse rate to drop below 80. I was helping her change the sheets and she looked up at me with a concerned face and said, " Dreaming about fishing with those bright yellow rods again ? " " yup." I said. She responded, " you need to see somebody about that." 1 Quote

Guess “I’ve been working on the railroad” is a great song for piling wood as well, thanks for the ear worm A-Jay ?. 1 2 Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted January 13, 2019 Super User Posted January 13, 2019 I have one every now and then. Im fishing my home lake and when I get out there , someone has cut down all the trees on our Island and Im trying to understand why. And one part of it is I never catch anything. It is definetely my lake, but its surreal, kind of like wearing yellow tint sunglasses. In the dream , I think there is a little creek going out of it at the south end that goes to another lake ( There isnt in reality ) , and Im always trying to find it in the dream and cant. When Im really fishing I remember it in the dream sometimes. Not a scary dream, just weird. Quote
Super User N Florida Mike Posted January 13, 2019 Super User Posted January 13, 2019 @Catt Your story was similar to one I had .One of the few times I got a genuine " skeer " , ( not a bad dream , but reality ) , was when I went wade fishing in a big , cypress tree filled lake out in the woods. I had gone maybe 500 feet or so from the ramp, and hadnt caught anything. I suddenly heard something crash back in the swamp and heard something coming. It had taken me probably an hour to get that far, but I dont remember it taking me but 5 minutes or so to get back out !!!? Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 13, 2019 Super User Posted January 13, 2019 I've never had any nightmares about fishing. Plenty about work though. 1 Quote

Didn't know what it was but I knew where I aint! Bobcat. From a distance they can sound exactly like a woman screaming. Had one that came to drink at a pond near my house when I was a kid. Would scream a few nights a week after drinking from the pond. Makes it hard to sleep when you're 9 or 10! 1 Quote
Way north bass guy Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Yup, sounds like a bobcat for sure. We had one around our place a couple years ago in the summer, it’d sit at the end of our driveway and scream like that. As soon a you shone the flashlight on it, it’d run away but then come back the next night and do it again. Did that for about 4 horrible nights before it finally went away. Quote
