starkeer Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 I was new to baitcasters this past summer and felt like I got pretty dialed in on Abu’s, Shimano’s, and Diawa’s. However, I got a pretty great deal on a Quantum Monster 300 during the TW Christmas sales and I cannot for the life of me figure out the braking system. Does anyone have experience in adjusting the brakes on this reel or similar Quantum reels? Thanks in advance. 1 Quote

If you've not accessed this - that could be somewhat problematic. If you have - maybe you're not holding your mouth right ? A-Jay 1 Quote
TheBassTurd Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Did you ever figure this out? I just received mine from the TW sale and have spent the past few hours trying to get the side cover off... there's no switch, button, lever or anything that indicates how to get it off. Came with a schematic drawing but nothing's labeled and there is shockingly little info about this reel to be found anywhere online... I emailed Quantum Support but let me know if you've figured this out, every other reel I own has the external adjustment dial and/or visible switch to pop the side cover... it would seem ridiculous to have to start pulling screws to get in there for a simple adjustment 2 Quote

FrankN209 Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Where the red arrow is. Twist that knob and it loosens the side plate. The side plate twists up. 1 Quote

Twist the sidecover down gently then pull it away from the chassis. The cover will come off. Adjust the brakes. Quote
TheBassTurd Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 FFS... SMH. Ya know that's the 1st thing I touched but saw a spring in the diagram so I stopped in fear it would explode. Thanks! Quote
starkeer Posted January 15, 2019 Author Posted January 15, 2019 Honestly, I hadn't had a chance to take a second look at it. But this information seems to have solved my issues and I cant wait to get everything spooled up. Thanks everyone! Quote
