BubbaBassin’ Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 My jon boat is almost done, i made a wooden deck, carpeted the whole thing, mounted a 35 johnson on the back, a minnkota 30 on the front, but i live nearest to lake harding alabama and ive always been stuck to the bank. So my question is, where do i start? How do i begin my fishing from a boat journey, where should i start fishing? Quote

Then you will need to study some Topo or lake maps to find the type of cover/structure to fish depending on season/fish stage, that is close to your launch points. Quote

Then pick a spot with rocks or logs and start fishing. Life jacket fire extinguisher throwable PFD and paddle are a must. Bail bucket / sponge and one ice cold beer can be very useful. Great experience as he really knew the lake and got me on multiple fish. Quote

BoatSquirrel Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 DNR will want you to have a pfd, throwable, horn, fire extinguisher, rope, etc. Check your DNR’s website. Watch the weather also! As for Harding, points and docks with jigs and crankbaits out towards the main lake are good spots to start with no electronics. Bridges with riprap are ususlly good options too.
