I don't worry much about the scents on my baits. Put them in the right place and they'll catch fish.

Baitmate. Hadn’t heard that brand mentioned since I was a little feller! I got in trouble more than a few times for spilling that stuff back in the day

I'm a firm believer in Strike Kings caffeine scented plastics. Coffee tubes and the like.

Last spring I ordered some baits that I didn't realize were anise scented. They worked great so the fish didn't seem to mind it and I really liked it. Every time I walked by my fishing storage area the scent would waft out and put a smile on my face. Sort of a Pavlovian response to the pleasure of fishing I guess. I'm now an anise fan, as much for me as the fish.

The key is 100% Anise Oil not essential oil or extract ?
