Slowly warming this week until highs are in the 50s and lows don't go below freezing. We might just pull out of this winter after all. Ice is still thick enough that the ice-fishers are still going out, but that might change within a week or so.

I do believe there may be a shift in climate occurring up this way.

While the overnight temps are still expected to dip a bit below freezing, day time temps in the mid to high 30's should help promote snow & ice melt.  If the sun actually appears for any length of time along with perhaps more melting, it would go a long way towards helping my personal Mojo; which could use it right about now.

Yup I saw a couple guys ice fishing yesterday. Friday I did see a side by side on the ice which I thought was quite stupid. The mouth of the channel out from my house is starting to open up so I get antsy looking out my window.

Tons ~

Walking by the 6-foot fence out back this morning, the top of it is at my waist.

We have a ways to go yet.

A buddy who was ice fishing texted me yesterday. Said that's it for the ice. My prediction in @A-Jay ice out thread has this weekend as my on the water date. I'm still optimistic.

So, my home water is closed. It's 2ft over summer pool and 2ft below flood stage.

A few ponds are wide open, I'm fishing on Saturday for a few hours.

Must be nice! Almost 60 by Sunday but The ice will still be around. Not much longer though.

One of my brown bass lakes I’m going to target I drive by almost daily. There is an inlet that has some pretty good flow and I see that is opening things up quickly around that area and same with the outlet.

I still have to get my boat and get it cleaned and loaded.

I hope it opens up for you, it's that time of year where the itch gets worse as the temp tube creeps its way red.

I've got to get this outta my house in Maine and will use it to pond hop this year I think. It has a 9.9 4 stroke and I want to get a TM for it. It's been great to striper fish out of it for the past few years. It can be inflated and on the water in like 10 minutes or less.

It snowed again last night.

Are you reminding those of us on cloud nine what’s inevitable between now and the end of April? ?

I’m going to put the blame on @J Francho because he’s been talking about snow. We got snow last night, not much thankfully.

Today was supposed to be upper 40’s, tomorrow mid 50’s, and Saturday upper 50’s. Nope not anymore, won’t reach 40 the next two days and only low 40’s Saturday.

While I'm not surprised, I’m still a little bummed. Oh well, the ground has thawed enough that dig season is here so work is getting busy and overtime has begun. ?

I may not get out and fish Sunday, my son's indoor baseball practice got cancelled last night moving it to outdoors on Sunday with temps anticipated to be in the 60*'s.

Spring has sprung here in the Bay State

This is the closest thing to open water I have around my place right now, gonna be several weeks yet before the boat gets splashed. The honking geese in the background just showed up a couple days ago, it sounds like they’re laughing at me standing over here on about 3’ of ice ?

A quick trip last weekend showed most of the lakes in my area still had some ice on them. Not a big deal as temps are predicted to rise next weekend with no major snow events planned. This is the good news.

Now for the bad news.

Where I fish if the river is over 5 1/2 feet its unfishable.

Our forecast is pretty similar to yours. The ice is leaving the shoreline. With the warm temps and predicted rain Friday I think I’ll be in good shape.

Only open water around here was the mighty Hudson River. Took a scouting trip today with rod and reel in hand. 52 degree temps felt so good, I couldn’t sit at home.

Trudged through ice, snow and mud to get to a nice current break. Soaked some worms for a few hours. Threw a Ned Rig. Nothing. The water temps are still in the 30’s and nothing has moved upstream yet.

These are the times that really test my patience and pissy levels. The fishing is so close I can taste it.

I was thinking earlier, this thread is all but done. Then I remembered we had snow in April last year. We’ll play it safe for another couple weeks, then say goodbye to this topic for 6-7 months. ?

Have to wait until after next Monday. Cubs home opener. It has snowed on more than one occasion. Rain is scheduled as of right now...

Only in the upper midwest is spring denoted by "Let's spring another snowstorm on them." :annoyed1:

Snowing here 3 inches on the ground.

Expecting more than twice that before it's over.

And here I was thinking I'd be fishing in a few days.

Silly me.
