kjfishman Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I had a short 1.5" piece break off a tip of a pole and replaced the guide on the tip to repair it. The new guide is a littler bigger guide than was on the original tip. Does it really have any impact on performance? Quote

If you put a saltwater rod tip on a freshwater light spinning rod you might see some difference in sensitivity. As long as you are not the biggest Tournament fisher, someone who is dedicated to tournaments and that's how they get their income, you should be fine. I did the same thing because I really needed a new rod tip right away and there is no difference. I hoped this comment helps! Tight Lines! Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted January 9, 2019 Super User Posted January 9, 2019 The larger tip won't affect anything. Loosing 1 1/2 inches off the tip on the other hand will make for a very different rod. Quote
