 I use a 1/8 oz. Rooster tail for dink bass in my buddy's pond. It's chock full of 9" to 12" bass as well as big bluegill, so this is a natural bait. I like the firetiger color with gold blade.

Looks like I need to catch up with some Blanton’s when I get home.

 

I used to use whatever Walmart stocked back in the early to mid 90s and would catch a lot of panfish, so maybe I was using very light/small lures. But, then again I was 5. 

 

I’ve thought about trying some of the larger sizes for bass in the prespawn if some of my other lures don’t produce any given day.

They are worth the $.40 more. 

 

Wordens or whatever they are called use to have a rooster tail version with a blade setup like Panther Martin. Not sure where that amounted to. Maybe short lived.

Vibric rooster tails ...had a 1 piece  v shaped blade 

Oops yuup use ..mepps #3 black fury.,gold and silver ...i take off the stock  hooks and replace with tru turn SS catfish hooks.my spinners do double duty fresh and salt.

Ended up with 4.

2 dinks on the 1/4 oz rooster tail, a 2 on the #3 Mepps, and a 3 on the 3/8 **********. Not too bad for a couple of hours in January.

Yes, I believe you are correct with that name. I'm sure, pretty positive that I have some smaller one used for trout. I don't think Mine have a "V" to the blade but I believe you. The shaft through the blade sticks out in my head.

 

Mepps spinners for bass have always been a bit of an easier find. Slightly heavier versions. I'm not throwing Muskie weight spinners but I'm not throwing UL 1/24 oz. or 1/32oz.

   I used to use Mepps (et al.) a lot. I'd go in to a body of water and use a spinnerbait first. If that didn't work, I'd use a spinner. I used Aglia #4 or 5 for slow and/or shallow, then switch to Panther Martin 3/8 to 1/2 for deeper work. But I found out that the same exact scenario could be handled a better way; I switched to a smaller-form  spinnerbait. I go down to the War Eagle 3/16 finesse, and then on down to the Bomber Miniwhacker, if I can still find it. I found out that the step-down scheme works better than changing over to in-lines. On small and largemouth, that is. Pike, wipers and whites are a different story.  Walleye and sauger are a different  .....  world  ☺️
