The Richmond Fishing Expo is on January 18, 19 and 20 this year at Meadow Event Park in Doswell about two miles east of I-95 at exit 98,  the Kings Dominion exit.

Doors open at 9 AM on Friday and Saturday, 10 AM on Sunday.

Hope to see some of the guys and gals on the Forum at the Expo. I will be there when it opens at 9 AM on Friday and walk around until the Edwin Edwards and Tim Horton seminars take place starting at 11 AM.

Check out the web page.

I will be wearing my LSU sweatshirt unless I get tired of having people yell "Geaux Tigers" at me. I will then change to an Alabama sweatshirt and put a paper bag over my head.

If you are there Friday morning and see an old guy wearing an LSU sweatshirt please say hello and introduce yourself. Come on by and sit with me at the early seminars if you are there.

And may I suggest you bring a plastic grocery bag with you in case you start to buy stuff.

See you at the Expo!

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll be there Saturday morning so we probably won't get a chance to meet.  Had a good time last year, going to try to attend a few more seminars this year.  If you see a guy in his 30's with his right arm in a sling, that will be me.  May or may not be with the wife, she had a good time people watching last year.

I plan on going Friday as well. I'll probably wear a grey VT hat (granddaughter's school) or an OSU hat.

I should be there Saturday! Looking forward to it. Just look for the big red beard and glasses!

Spent the afternoon at the Expo.  Not bad.  Was cool to chat with Edwin Evers for a while.  Didn't see any LSU gear....and LOTS of VaTech hats....lol.

I kept the monkey pretty well in check, but my wife bought a cool handmade cicada buzzer from a couple local brothers; Patterson....if you get a chance, check them out

I was there. Had a conference call with a client from 9:30 to 11:00 while sitting in my car in the parking lot. Went in and walked around and saw some old friends; spoke with Timmy Horton; got the new 2019 Freshwater Fishing in Virginia booklet from VG&IF guys; saw Dave from GMCO Maps; got a handout for the Fishing Flea Market in Richmond at the Mobility Supercenter, 7450 Midlothian Turnpike for February 2nd; and then left around 12:00 to go to Green Top to get some of the new Berkley General Powerbaits.

Had to leave as I promised my wife I would take her to Short Pump shopping center in the afternoon and her definition of afternoon means leaving the house at noon.

Missed Richard, who I was looking forward to seeing, and a few people noticed the LSU sweatshirt but none from the Forum.

Noticed a number of new vendors. Found out that Anna Point Marina on One Fish Anna is for sale if anyone is interested. Met Lin Bell of Pro Tech Fishing out of Toano. Pro Tech has some fantastic Japanese baits and I mentioned the small frog in the round box to Lin that I got from him about 20 years ago and he told me it is now a collector's item worth a bundle. I bought my only All Star rod from Pro Tech many years ago. Loved visiting the store to see the beautiful Japanese baits. Glad he is up and running again.

I will say that it was the largest Friday crowd I have seen at the event in years. The place was packed which I found to be unusual for a Friday morning.

Enjoyed walking around and fighting off the Bait Monkey at every turn.

Now to make plans to attend the February 2nd Fishing Flea Market which should prove interesting. I will post a separate thread about it for the Virginia guys and gals.

Edwin Evers' seminars on spring fishing were interesting.  He also had a lot of good things to say about MLF pro tour.  The anglers picked the locations and dates so the lakes will be at their best.  He also said they have the flexibility to set the minimum weight for a scoreable bass.  So if they fish Falcon, they could set the limit to three pounds instead of one pound.  Should be exciting.  The Cups are still fished 'in the dark', meaning they don't know where they'll fish.

Can't wait.

Guys I hit up the Fishing Expo on Saturday....and I had a blast!!! I had on the Pittsburgh Steelers hoodie and hat with camo pants.

Got to meet up with some local guys I follow on social media. And I finally got my hands on a couple Bull Shad Swimbaits. Plan on going after that double-digit Swamp Donkey this year. Hope the 6-inch Bull Shad and 5-inch Bull Gill glide help me get it. It was so many great companies there, so I had to stock up a little for 2019.

Profound Outdoors with Timmy Horton had some high quality, beautiful lures. Got me a couple Heavy-Z lipless cranks and square bills.

By the way that 7-foot Daiwa spinning combo with Green Top for $35 was the best deal there....hands down. Dave's Tackle and other vendors had the same combo for $65-$85. 13 Fishing 7'1 medium heavy Black Fate rod was another steal I got there as well.

Catch you guys at the pre-spawn!!!!
