MSWV Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Anyone have any Tennessee River Classic predictions? How will this tournament be won? Im pulling for Ott Defoe! Quote
HeyCoach Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Jordan Lee pulls off the 3-peat with KVD in 2nd and Aaron Martens in 3rd. A-Mart doesn’t win a classic before switching to MLF. Quote

Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 8, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 8, 2019 The limits are 14” for largemouth and 18” for smallmouth. I’m guessing they will place a 12” limit for spots because there is no length minimum on them. I’m also not sure what they count a mean mouth as but somebody weighed in a 19 lb limit of meanmouth when flw came here, I want to say it was Scott Martin but I’m not sure. Smallmouth will be a major player, there’s a bunch of 4-5 lb ones 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 8, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 8, 2019 I'm going to make a bold prediction and guess the guy with the most weight at the end will win the thing. 2 4 Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 8, 2019 Super User Posted January 8, 2019 Don't over look Jacob Wheeler or Roy Hawk. I am hoping Aaron can find his way to the winners circle but he finds a way to loose. Tom Quote
J.Vincent Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Martens, Lee, KVD, Defoe, Strader, Lucas, Wheeler and Roy should all do well....but my gut says KVD or Wheeler Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted January 8, 2019 Super User Posted January 8, 2019 Good Thread ~ Be cool to see Jordan Lee go Back . . . to Back . . . to BACK ! As a long time Kevin Van Dam fan, I'm always pulling for him. My sentimental pick is Jason Christie - after last year - He could probably use the confidence boost. But my 'un-official' pre-diction for the 2019 Classic win is Brandon Palaniuk Here's to hoping the big bass bite is wide open the entire derby ! A-Jay Quote

The only thing that could shut the bite down is spawning but that is usually more of an April/may event. The bags are typically heavier on every other Tennessee river reservoir though, fort loudon/ tellico is the furthest upstream reservoir on the TN river . As it flows downstream toward the Ohio it obviously gets bigger and bigger and in turn, so do the fish 2 Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 8, 2019 Super User Posted January 8, 2019 I always go for Ike and G-Man and Ish followed by Timmy Horton and Mark Menendez. They don't win but it is fun following them. I really do not care who wins. Just hope everyone does well and we have no mishaps. Quote
Allaroundfishing Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 In all honestly I dont have one person pegged but someone like jason christie who has been a stick the past few years or maybe seth feider he has had quite the run when it comes to smallmouth so i definitely would not rule him out. but it could be a wild card like caleb sumrall or bill lowen Quote
MSWV Posted January 9, 2019 Author Posted January 9, 2019 Never been on the body of water but I looked at it for a while on Google earth and it looks good.. Looks to be plenty of options. Quote

Looks to be plenty of options. Right now it's fairly stained to muddy and the current is crazy fast. That could change by mid March because the two lakes above ft loudon will fill up 30 feet starting March 1 so all this inflow it is receiving now could cut waaaaaay back. The tellico portion is much more clear and consistent, and where the fish in my avatar came from this winter.... Note: I just checked the flow and there's about 54,000 cfs flowing in and 56,000 flowing out. 14 flood gates open at the bottom end and generators maxed out Here's what that looks like below the dam. Off limits for the classic but not for gulls!!! Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 24, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 24, 2019 Maybe this has something to do with the Classic https://www.knoxnews.com/story/news/local/2019/01/24/boat-ramp-ned-mcwherter-park-tennessee-river/2669172002/ 1 Quote

The one thing that I wondered about was launching at McWherter Park. As you know, it's ok for day in, day out local stuff, but not the Classic, or even a large local/ regional tournament. Going to be cutting it close as far as the time line. 1 Quote
