PeteG Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Anyone fish rbe Cannonsville in Delaware county NY? It's got some great fishing. I've got a boat, but fish shore mainly. I plan to put some time in with the boat this coming spring. I'll move my boat this season to an area where it's easier to control the boat and fish. My boat is a flat bottom and catches wind like a sail. I've got a portable finder / GPS coming to fish a bit more seriously. I've caught good fish from shore and boat, but really never fished it like some of you here fish a body of water. I've got more time to fish these days and I'm having a blast all within an hour of the house. Anyone know this water? Quote
CaptPete Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 I'm only about an hour south of there, never fished it before. Mainly smallmouth? According to the state website it's rowboat only(no motors) with DEC permit... that makes it much less exciting to me. (I have my own boat, and prefer atleast electric motor ability, specially a lake that size); Area: 4,703 Acres Shoreline Length: 61.1 miles Length: 12 miles Max Depth: 121 feet Mean Depth: 61 feet I've seen some of the state website info be incorrect before though, can you confirm? PeteG Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 Hello Capt. Recently, electric motors and kayaks are allowed. Anything used on the reservoir is required to be washed at a approved vendor before being placed on the water. You must have this receipt. You must do this each visit or dont remove your boat and motor and register / sticker your boat at the DEP office. Not easy for day trips and I'm not leaving my motor. Your spec of the Cannonsville is correct and yes smallmouth. It's also loaded with brown trout... few largemouth. I caught one last season... big but few. The smallie fishing is worth the effort. Its loaded. I'm not far from you. Quote
