ArizonaFishing Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Any anglers who fish the deserts of Arizona know we have unique conditions as opposed to other regions. Our winters can be in the mid 70s but as low as the 40s. Recent weather conditions have brought a cold front to the Phoenix area. Night time temps in the 30s, with daytime highs is the 50s maybe up to 60. Past few weeks the bite have been sporadic. My question is what would be the best time of day to fish? I feel like once the sun is up high and at its warmest I will have the best results. But so far its truly hit or miss as far as timing. I'd like to take a most systematical approach. Any suggestions? Super User Oregon Native Posted January 5, 2019 Super User Posted January 5, 2019 Oh...my. Well...since no one has answered I'll give my two cents. You have many fish in a body of water...they don't all bite at the same time. If you like to fish and get up early....get er done. If not...sleep in and go in the afternoon. Point of fishing....have fun! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 5, 2019 Super User Posted January 5, 2019 The biggest fish are caught between 10:00 Am and 2:00 PM. Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 6, 2019 Super User Posted January 6, 2019 The AZ open is 1/9-1/11 at Havasu with 5 bass limits pushing 30 lbs expected so not all of AZ is the same. Cold fronts are always difficult to forecast and shuts down the shallow bass bite everywhere. Your options are fish deeper in colder weather, timing is based on each lake, no set pattern. Tom Quote
SWVABass Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 I’m in New Mexico and winter fishing is tough here. Need to find something with access to deep water. I always try a crank and a spinner if no dice with that I start dragging a dropshot around or tube. As far as timing your just going to have to put time in on the water to figure out your lake. Quote
zeth Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 meh just go fish the salt river for 6"ers. Quote
