pauldconyers Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 I've been wanting to try a Lucky Craft 1.5 SILENT square bill. Looking at their webpage I am more confused than ever. They have more model numbers and such then I could ever figure out. To make sure I get the correct one what is the specific model number I am looking for to order? Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted January 2, 2019 Super User Posted January 2, 2019 The lucky craft website is outdated and has tons and tons of models listed that are either discontinued or aren't available in the US This is what you want: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lucky_Craft_LC_Silent_Squarebill_07__15__25_/descpage-LC15.html Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 2, 2019 Super User Posted January 2, 2019 The link above is what you want and I cannot recommend Copper Perch enough. Allen 2 Quote

FishDewd Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 I like the american shad... it ticked off the biggest bluegill I've ever seen before getting attacked viciously and caught the bluegill! If it can do that... it will catch bass. It's a very unique color cause it changes depending on light angle. Really looks like a bait fishes' shimmering scales. 1 Quote

If you buy one and don't catch anything on it this year I will buy it off you for full retail plus shipping. I have one they have almost chewed through the plastic that looks like someone took a wire wheel to it. Silent RC 1.5 in Copper Perch is the #1 crankbait I own and I have at least 1k cranks. My best colors have been; Copper Perch, Golden Shiner, Bull Bream, and White Shad. Only other one is a custom painted one that looks like Zoom's Anchovy shad. If you fish waters that bluegill is the main forage I recommend BE Gill. Only problem with BE Gilll is the blue cats on the Lower Potomac like bluegills and will crush that bait. Allen Quote
pauldconyers Posted January 3, 2019 Author Posted January 3, 2019 Looking at the TW webpage on these there are just too many options. Can anyone give me a brief explanation to all these types? Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 3, 2019 Global Moderator Posted January 3, 2019 Copper Perch and Bull Bream are 2 of my favorite 1.5 colors. I have a Copper Perch that was in similar condition to what Munkin described until a fished tossed it and it smacked off the gunnel of my boat and broke the bill off. 1 1 Quote

They really crush that Bull Bream in the spring for some reason. This is the only crankbait I have ever used that I have to worry about gut hooking 5lb bass from them swallowing it so deep. RHuff Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Has anyone had any luck with the bigger sizes? Does that 5.5 catch bigger fish?? Also, I don’t see bull bream listed anywhere on tackle warehouse. Quote
Joshua van Wyk Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Wish I saw this thread before I placed a Cabelas order, I actually had a LC squarebill in my cart but took it out because the gift card only had so much on it. Quote

Heartland Posted January 4, 2019 Posted January 4, 2019 Not too hard of a color to paint, or at least get very close to. I have done a few, and they seem to work well, last one I done was a DD22. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted January 4, 2019 Super User Posted January 4, 2019 I had an older model with a rattle that caught me a few fish. With this year's black friday order I picked up a 1.5 silent which is similar in shape and I'm guessing will work just as well. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 4, 2019 Super User Posted January 4, 2019 I have a few different colors of the LC 1.5 Silent and have caught fish on all but for whatever reason, the old ones were better. Quote

I used to be a die hard SK KVD guy, but these are better quality for not much more money, and the hooks out of the box don't have to be replaced. BE Gill, Black Moss, Chameleon Brown Craw, and Pearl Threadfin are my favorite colors. They seem to run about 6" shallower than KVD 1.5's and 2.5's, which for my purposes has not made one lick of difference. 1 Quote

When I discovered LC 1.5 I felt like I graduated in the Squarebill realm. The Black Moss has caught me more bass than any other crankbait I own. Hooks are so much sharper than KVD 1.5s and 2.5s. In all my years of fishing I have never seen bass choke a crankbait like these. I worry about the 5-6lb fish getting gut hooked sometimes as they just inhale these things. Blue cats on the Potomac are the worst as 20lbers hit the BE Gill like they are stealing something then you have to get all 6 points out of their mouth as they just crush the bait. Allen 1 Quote
pauldconyers Posted January 6, 2019 Author Posted January 6, 2019 What is the difference between these Lucky Craft square bills and their DRS line? Quote

The DRS is the "deep rattle sound". sounds like a faint one knocker. They're also still under a lot more quality control scrutiny than the silent 1.5. The LC silent 1.5 isn't the same as the old RC/RTO 1.5s. Same mold. Nowhere near the quality control they used to have. A few years ago they introduced this inexpensive 1.5 as a "customer appreciation" and it just kind of stuck around. It's not a bad bait but it isn't the same as the old ones. Not sure what's going on /w Lucky Craft. A lot of their really popular baits like the BDS and RTO series have just disappeared. Quote
