Super User gim Posted April 19, 2019 Super User Posted April 19, 2019 The Hennepin county water patrol declared ice out on Tonka today. 2 Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted April 19, 2019 Super User Posted April 19, 2019 I knew Cooks Bay was clear, but I hadn't passed by the others today...yesterday there was still some black, honeycomb ice on the others but I knew it wouldn't be long before that was gone. Quote
SmallBlockMuscle Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 Crystal Bay was the only bay I saw with ice this morning. Its not solid but just a moving mass of chunks. Should be gone today I would think. Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted April 20, 2019 Author Super User Posted April 20, 2019 Was a Good Friday on the ‘Sip 5 Quote
OperationEagle Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Was out on tonka Saturday. North arm parking was darn near full. Maxwell bay dock was not in and was half full. Saw at some ice on the edges of Crystal Bay but outside of that it’s all clear. Beautiful day to break in a new boat and motor. See you all on the water...Opener can’t come soon enough! Quote

ThatOneBigKid Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 Did a full boat shakedown on Saturday. Everything repaired, added, and fixed all seems to be in working order. All ready to hit Pool 4 next Saturday. Still have ice on a few lakes up here in the Isanti/Cambridge area, but very close to being ice off. Less than a week I would guess. Shout out to @rascalP for donating to my St. Jude Bass Classic fundraiser. I appreciate it, brother! Going to miss fishing against you in the Greenhorn this year. Quote
JackKlassen Posted April 23, 2019 Posted April 23, 2019 Fished Okoboji in Iowa Friday/Saturday. Temps were 44ish on the main lake to 50ish in the backs of cuts and marinas depending on how long the sun had been shining. Chatterbaits, neds and wacky rigs accounted for all of our largemouth. Good numbers but nothing over 3lbs. I think the bigs hadn't quite moved up yet. A friend of ours down there said the largemouth got fired up in the later part of the day so we fished smallmouth in the mornings. Jerkbaits over rock flats produced some but nothing huge. Overall an awesome trip for April bass fishing. Would recommend going down if you can swing a day or two trip. 3 Quote

It might be because it’s the start of a new year and I’m hyped or something. I always try to get out there once a year. Quote

I really appreciate it. Got bad news last night for the tourney. They are postponing the tourney from next weekend until June 7th and 8th (Friday and Saturday). Interesting choice in the rescheduled dates, but I know they have to work around scheduling for quite a few event locations from the rules meeting, to weigh ins, and the banquet hall. Still looking forward to the tourney, kind of bummed we don't get to chase spawners and fat pre-spawners down there for the tourney Quote

Usually this time of year a jerk bait, but the ice only went out 5 days ago and temps were 46. Couldn’t get a sniff on jerkbaits so went to slow rolling a Colorado blade spinnerbait. For the Whities, I threw a small squarebill... man they get big on Waubay! Quote

Threw a jerkbait quite a bit this past week. Trout fishing Whitewater area. Been doing that trip for 35 some years. No biggies but a couple buddies had best ever for numbers and got to show one buddy how deep in we go. Great water. Now it's boat time. Wisconsin opener May 4th. 16 hours ago, FryDog62 said: Bass of all kinds are biting in SoDak... must be the hat Nice to see you got out there, Fry. I need a year with early ice out so I can get out there before our trout trip. Horseshoe is one of the lakes on my list, as well as Reetz and Clear. Maybe next year. Quote

Coming back to the ramp Thurs afternoon to pull out, had 40 mph gusts and 3 foot whitecaps coming up my back while trying to get on the trailer... Quote
OperationEagle Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 What’s up w our long term forecast? After Saturday, 10 straight days of showers? Well at least it will be a steady weather pattern around opener. Quote
