Justbass11 Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Spark plugs, What’s the good spark plug? I have decided to change out my spark plugs to see if that’ll help start my engine. Quote

Super User slonezp Posted December 30, 2018 Super User Posted December 30, 2018 My Merc takes NGK and my Evinrude takes Champion. That's what the mfg recommends, that's what I use. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted December 30, 2018 Super User Posted December 30, 2018 Go with what the manufacture recommends and you can't go wrong. 2 Quote
tander Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Sparks plugs can make a lot of difference in cranking and running. When I got my Johnson motor it had NGK and it didn't start real good. Looked at the manual and it recommended Champion plugs. Changed them out to recommended plug and made a difference. Quote
Super User MickD Posted December 30, 2018 Super User Posted December 30, 2018 It's not just the brand, match the model number exactly and make sure the gap is right. Exactly. Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted December 30, 2018 Super User Posted December 30, 2018 One little side note. A lot of times manufactures give you two choices, if they do then pick the one suited for your style of operation. If you do very little WOT running, then you should run the hotter plug recommended. If you are mostly running at WOT or make long WOT runs, then you should go with the colder recommended plug. Quote
