georgeyew Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 I just tried the Tokyo rig today. Not sure if I am using it wrong but I am not impressed. Ike said that there is no wrong way to use it and I believed him. I was dragging it like he said in the video. However, I found that when dragging the weight, it would cause the bait to lean forward and dig through the mud and not floating off the bottom as advertised. The only way to keep the bait off the bottom was to hop it or vertical jig it. Anyone else had any success with it? What am I doing wrong? Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 28, 2018 Global Moderator Posted December 28, 2018 It's a premade bubba shot, and I can't catch fish with a bubba shot, so I won't be trying it. 1 Quote

In Ike's vid, he said he was dragging it. But viewing it again, he was dragging the rig directly on top. It would look different if you were casting 40 ft out. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted December 28, 2018 Super User Posted December 28, 2018 In this one, he's jumping it through a mucky bottom. If the bottom is gravel or tight-pack sand, dragging will work. All other bottoms, you need to hop it through. 1 Quote
fin Posted December 28, 2018 Posted December 28, 2018 A Bait-Walker would be better for dragging. 1 Quote

If the weight was pointed up, then it would catch less grass on the way up. But as in the pic of the video, it would fall through grass and cover easier. Ike said that he likes to put 2 bullet sinkers one up and one down to make it weedless on the fall and the retrieve. Quote

Super User NHBull Posted December 28, 2018 Super User Posted December 28, 2018 Another bait to catch fisherman ? 3 1 Quote

Super User J Francho Posted December 28, 2018 Super User Posted December 28, 2018 Expensive Jika rig is all it is. I make my own Jika Punch Rigs from trolling weights: 2 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted December 29, 2018 Super User Posted December 29, 2018 It doesn't have to be expensive. You can make the weight wire with a paper clip and use a bullet weight or two. After looking at this thread and searching how to make the rig, I wondered if this would do instead. I have a box full of these that my late father had. It's a C rig kit with these weights instead of egg sinkers. These have rattles but they aren't very loud. Quote

It soves the problem of “how do we brand and sell a jika rig in an increasingly satruated tackle market? If I had a wire-forming tool I would make some toyko rigs up as I alreay have a million tungsten weights on hand rather then buying jika weights. 1 Quote
