What do you guys think of this hair jig?  I wrapped the marabou instead of just tying straight to the jighead.  I feel like it should be more poofy but maybe I’m wrong what do you guys think?  Also thanks to @smalljaw for his videos online

I wish I had the talent to be able to make something that looks that good.

Nice work!

Looks great!

You really cannot evaluate jig poofiness until you get it wet.  Some of the boringest looking dry marabou jigs poof like crazy on the slow drop or lift

That marabou jig looks perfect!!! The puffiness is right from what I can tell by the size of the jig and hook. When you use marabou by just tying the feather in it will compress more when it is in the water. When you palmer the feather as you did, you'll notice how the individual fibers stand out more and in the water they will move and remain free instead of simply compressing. I normally palmer marabou on my jigs but if I use 2 colors and I want countershading with say black on top and another color like gray or white on the bottom then I will just tie the feathers in straight.  Anyway, nice job on the jig, color is awesome and I like the grizzly hackle you used, it will look great in the water as well!!!

It’s marabou so I guess technically it’s a marabou jig.  I guess I should change the title, thanks smalljaw I actually copied this from your video. When I put it in the water I saw the small feather coming off the jig like your saying.

The jig looks very good.  Other really effective colors are olive and brown.  Smallies respond well to barring, so continue to use a barred slim, soft, hackle feather.
