robbiez111 Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Looking for your favorites in a Shallow squarebill that works best in grass flats. Want it to dive 0-2 feet and just touch the top of the grass but dont want a wake bait. There was a tread a little while back where alot of the people recommended the same shallow crank but cant find it. Whats your favorites....? Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted December 25, 2018 Super User Posted December 25, 2018 Mann's 1- is another alternative 2 Quote
Big Rick Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Bandit Footloose. And they're on sale at TW. Keep in mind these aren't big baits. 1 Quote

Super User Sam Posted December 26, 2018 Super User Posted December 26, 2018 Mann's -1; KVD Shallow Square bill are both excellent. Any shallow running crankbaits will do. Now, as an alternative, remove the rear hook from a 1/4 ounce lipless crankbait and throw that. By removing the rear hook you will avoid a lot of snags. Quote
robbiez111 Posted December 26, 2018 Author Posted December 26, 2018 Awesome! Thanks Guys! The Manns -1 looks like the ticket. What colors produces best for ya? Liking the baby bass and fireshad.... Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted December 26, 2018 Super User Posted December 26, 2018 The Norman Fat Boy fished on mono line would be a good choice for more aggressive fish. KVD Shallows also work well all year round. Quote
Dorado Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 @robbiez111 One-Minus caught my PB Largemouth (on avatar). Fireshad Crystaglow was the pattern. It’s an all-time classic hardbait! Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted December 26, 2018 Super User Posted December 26, 2018 KVD Shallow has been berry berry good to me. 1 Quote

Super User smalljaw67 Posted December 27, 2018 Super User Posted December 27, 2018 I love the 1 Minus series!! There are actually 3 different sizes so pay attention to what you are getting. There is the baby 1 minus which is 2.25" long and 1/4oz most are talking about. The mid 1 minus which is 2.75" long and is 3/8oz and the regular 1 minus which is big at 3.25" long and 5/8oz. If you like the baby size there is another that I really like, the Mann's Baby X, it is the same body as the baby 1 minus but it has a square bill and dives 2' instead of 1'. The square bill is more like a small rectangle and gives the bait some awesome deflection capabilities. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted December 27, 2018 Super User Posted December 27, 2018 My favorite currently in production is the Mann's 1- in gray ghost or fireshad. Brown Craw is also a good color around here. My all-time favorite shallow running bait is the Storm sub-wart. 1 Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 I've never met a Mann's 1- that I couldn't break in about 10 casts or less... Seriously, I might just be unlucky, but I've broken at least 4 bills of my Mann's baits. Better (IMO) options: Bandit 100 or Footloose. The 100 goes deeper, but swimming it slowly will get you the desired depth, plus you can make it 'plunge' into little pockets. Megabass Griffon 0 will give you sheer numbers. It's a tiny bait, but big ones will gobble it up too. Bagley Bulgin' B series is a wakebait that is a little harder to find, but is also a fantastic bait for me. Also fragile, but I've had better luck with them than the Manns... Quote
