BoatSquirrel Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Todays best spinnerbait fishermen are Mark Menendez and Edwin Evers. 1 Quote

Brad Reid Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Great names listed here for SBs. Clunn, in particular, attributes his success with them to learning from two legendary spinnerbait anglers. One, whose name I have forgotten, fished with SBs all year long, in all conditions. 1 Quote

At 13:20 Hank says when he gets the spinnerbait to the end of the tree to just lets it fade away . Thats a good tip . I do it instinctively anymore . Just lower the rod slowly and slow down the retrieve . You dont have to stop it and let it flutter , though thats a good tactic too . Thats why the most important part of a spinnerbait [ in my opinion ] is the swivel .Cheap swivels just dont cut it . 2 Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 23, 2018 Super User Posted December 23, 2018 David Wharton was pretty good with a spinnerbait ? 1 Quote

When I first got into bass fishing I had a book that I used to help me and he had a couple of sections on spinnerbaiting. Can't believe I forgot about that. Thanks for posting. Stan Sloane was another SB guy. Loved his Zorro baits. I had a ton of luck on his short armed versions. 1 Quote

Dawn or dusk worked for me as well. Loved the way they helicoptered. Steep drop offs, bluffs or even open water. In the early spring when you first get a nice warm sun, the warm water surface could be a magnet for bass to gravitate to. Slow roll a shorty, then kill it and let fall on a helicopter?!? Man makes my heart race just thinking about it. ? 1 Quote
Big Rick Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 3 hours ago, Catt said: Single gold blade slow rolled at night! ? The famous Zorro Aggravator!! You can also wake it. Avery so often the blade will break the surface and "plops" a few turns. Bass can't stand it! 3 Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 23, 2018 Super User Posted December 23, 2018 Bobby Murry was known as "the thin water" top pro and won the '71 Classic on Lake Mead using a Zorro Aggravitor spinnerbait. Most of the top B.A.S.S. pros fished spinnerbaits in the 70's thru 80's. Rick Clunn credits spinnerbaits for his early success and KVD got his start using Nichols spinnerbaits. Tom 1 Quote

Wurming67 Posted December 24, 2018 Author Posted December 24, 2018 Any idea who makes this spinnerbait? Quote

No, Chatterbaits are not that much better. Bladed jigs have been a very popular flavor for a while now, but I generally fish them much different than a regular spinner bait. Although some presentations are interchangeable, I generally prefer bladed jigs in more stained water and closer to the bottom than spinner baits. 1 Quote

The reason Bobby was throwing a spinnerbait was in the early classics anglers were only allowed 4 combos & 10 lbs of tackle for an unknown destination. What was amazing about Bobby he only had 3 B.A.S.S. wins 2 were classics! Quote
