Dobyn Sierra or Loomis E6X spinning rod

Which one is the better stick?

Both seem to have positive feed back from most people. 

 

On a side note, my fishing partner uses the E6X rods and loves them.  He has tried the older IMX rods and the lower end Jig and Worm rods from Loomis and likes E6X the best.  He often says the the IMX rods are too stiff.  Personally, I have the old 844C IMX and it has been great.

Never held a Sierra but I like my Fury better than my e6x so I'd get the Sierra.

E6X was Shimano's first Loomis introductory bass rod series, IMO marginal quality for the price point. Dobyns Sierra on the other hand is a good quality rod backed by Dobyns customer service and on sale for the price of the popular Fury rods.

Cool I will go with the Sierra. I remember listening to the ultimate bass podcasts and Gary was on there a lot and seemed like a really good guy. If I remember he was not a fan of split grips, but everyone wanted them so he went with it.

That line does have a few full handle casting rods. I have the SA 683 C & 684 C FH & I think there a couple more.

What I remember of the conversation was that it was easier to balance a full handled stick than a split grip. I really can’t tell what the split grip gains you, I fish a mix of both. Honestly for the grip material means more, I do prefer cork over other materials.  

 

I have a list of rods I carry in the boat that I am slowly upgrading, so I will take whatever style grip fits that chart. Thinking of the spinning rod because that would get all of the ugly sticks out of the boat, unless I keep 1 in for spybaiting which the ugly sticks work perfect for.

All my Dobyns rods have cork handles.

I have both and love both. Two totally different rods. The partial e6x I have and another I fish regularly is the walleye series 6’6” medium fast action spinning and a 7’ 845c cbr crankbait rod. Both rods I really enjoy fishing and would make me wonder if the mag bass would make a great competition for the 734 as a universal rod. Both seem to have great sensitivity and balance. The 734c is a tough do it all rod. Been very pleased with it as well. So far I do lean towards the e6x for sensitivity by a little and the 734c for its universal applications.
