Super User FishTank Posted December 23, 2018 Super User Posted December 23, 2018 I wear a ball cap, I guess, and when it's hot I have a mesh hat that I wear. I have yet to bring my self to wear one of the safari style hats. I know it's better protection but the laughs I get when I have tried one have stopped me. Quote

The bill shades my eyes and the sunglasses are for the glare. A gaitor(sp?) is to protect my neck. 28 minutes ago, FishTank said: I wear a ball cap, I guess, and when it's hot I have a mesh hat that I wear. Or a gaitor I have found that the less of my skin that is directly exposed to the sun, the more energy I have after a long day of fishing. 2 Quote
ItsHardwick Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I have a mole on my face next to my left eye that’s a little larger than the end of a pencil eraser. I’ve been told that it could become cancerous if I get too much sun on it so I’ve worn a hat outside 95% of my life. So I wear a buff and then a hat and my Costas. It seems to do the trick. Sometimes it’s a flatbill, the bills on them seem a little larger than normal hats, but most of my fishing hats are mesh backed. That all being said, I’m only 32 and I guess I’m still pretty vein, because I can’t bring myself to wear a full brimmed hat like y’all have posted. My mom buys me one every year without fail and reminds me about the sun and my mole. 1 Quote

Isn’t the reason for the bill to keep the sun out of your eyes? There’s more than one reason to wear a hat. I wear hats a lot. It’s not just to keep the sun out of my eyes. I wear them because I like the way they look. Sometimes it’s just to keep my hair covered. Sometimes it’s for protection. I’ll wear it backwards for looks occasionally. Other times I wear it backwards because the bill is in the way. 2 Quote

Super User PhishLI Posted December 23, 2018 Super User Posted December 23, 2018 Goofy looking? Absolutely! My father has had several sections of his face/neck scooped and skin gratfed. Not fun and not prettty. If that's not bad enough, skin grafts don't always take the first time. I'm not gonna fool around with it if I can help it. I'm not looking for love while I'm fishing anyway. Plus my wife wouldn't like that! 2 Quote

Buffdaddy54 Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Fedora all day everyday! Spent WAY TOO MANY days out on the practice tee giving lessons with no sun protection. Skin cancer was my reward? Will NEVERgo outside again without some type of fedora be it felt or straw. Quote

Jut noticed that have them marked down to $11 right now for the 25 Days of Saving sale (reg. $20), but they're all sold out. They're black, but they breath quite well.
