brgbassmaster Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Hey just got my new boat and was wondering if you guys put the stabilizer in your gas the last trip you take and run it through the motor. or just put it in the gas and let it sit in there? thanks. Quote
The Next KVD Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I always run stabilizer through my motor. This way the gas in the gas lines and other parts of the motor are also protected and it prevents corrosion on the injectors. Quote
BassinDave Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I found that during the summer here in Florida, if I used my boat only once a month, the fuel that was sitting in the carbs would go stale and i would have to drain them to get it started. I add stabilizer every time I put fuel in the tank. That way I should never have a stale fuel problem. Quote
shortbasser Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I add Stabil every time all the time when I fill up. If its in the fall and I won't be fishing that much I add a bit extra. Another thing that you need on your new rig is a Water Separator. Your no doubt having to use the Ethanol crap like the rest of us and that is a necessity since it creates it's own moisture. Most folks keep their tanks full or empty to retard the water problems from the Ethanol. Better safe than sorry. Shortbasser Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 31, 2008 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 31, 2008 I only use it in the fall and winter, when I only fish every 4-8 weeks. Otherwise I'm fishing every week, so I have no need for it. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 31, 2008 Super User Posted March 31, 2008 I use Sea Foam all the time in all my small engines. I get the benefit of stabilization plus decarboning. No matter which boat/lawn mower/chain saw/power washer/string trimmer I am useing, the fuel is always fresh and the carbon build-up is eliminalted. Quote
jt236 Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I use a stabilizer every time I fill up.was told to do that many years ago by a mercury outboard tech. Quote
Wormy Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 I use it in every tank. Never know when I can't go fishing.... Quote
Super User cart7t Posted April 1, 2008 Super User Posted April 1, 2008 I use Seafoam most of the year. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted April 1, 2008 Super User Posted April 1, 2008 Every time gas goes into my boat Startron goes into it also. My old 60 HP Johnson\Evinrude purrs like a kitten. Quote
