Hey guys,

I have a Dobyns Sierra 735C that I plan on using for frogging mostly (may also use it for some swim baits and my whopper plopper).  Looking to buy a good reel for it under $150.  The 2 reels that I'm looking at right now are the Lew's Tournament Pro G for $119.99 and the Daiwa Tatula CT Type-R for $104.99.  Which one do you guys think would work better for frogging on this rod?  Open to other reel suggestions for under $150.

I have a Dobyns fury 735 teamed up with a Diawa Tatula CT Type-R. It's a good combination

All of my baitcasting reels are Daiwa...except for the reels on my two frog rods.  I love the Daiwas (I own Fuego CTs, Tatula CTs, Tatula CT-Rs, and a Tatula SV) but the reels on my frog rods are both Abu Garcia Revo SX (one Gen 3 and one Gen 4).  Both will throw a hollow body frog a country mile, handle 50lb braid beautifully, and they have 24lbs of drag to haul bass out of the lily pads.  I also throw my Whopper Plopper 130s with one of those rods.  Perfect reel for frogs.  Never had a single problem with either of them.

Make a list of the things that you would find beneficial for a reel on a frog rod.  Once you do that you will know what your looking for.

The Pro G..........I just bought my third one on sale at TW and I didn't even need it!  But it'll replace something, somewhere.......lol

I am a Shimano guy, but a few years ago I went to our BPS and they were having a sale on their ProQualifier at $70, so I picked one up out of curiosity, put 50lb braid on it and used it on my frog rod for three years.  That little reel was a work horse and never failed me.  Very smooth.  I got $50 for it at the BPS annual trade in toward a Chronarch MGL and it was still in perfect shape.
