What do you use the tablet for?

Since my Hook-2 doesn't have maps much less GPS - I run the I-Boating app on the tablet. Gives me 1' contour maps of the lake with GPS tracking. I can even record my trips and set waypoints. Here's the 'track record' from 31 July this past year - when I caught the bass in my profile pic.

The 4x does, but I have the base 4 model which doesn't.

Love your set up. I’m always looking for ideas on new mods On my canoe I  currently just finished my battery box and am working on a different stabilization system. These pictures aren’t the best I’ll try to get some better ones later

I've been doing more mods this past winter. Still have a few to do, then I'm going to do a vid on everything I've done to it.

I can’t wait to see your video  I’ll send some better pictures of what I’ve done

Got the trailer walkway installed today. Just a couple more things left before it's done...but one of those is a big time consumer...so may be a while before the vid is shot.

Yes...more coming this winter.

First up - electronics upgrade

Original setup - Hook 2-4 with my tablet in a clamp mount above it...camera mount behind. Transducer was on the trolling motor.

image.jpeg.1d7fda9bdb5bacf2d913842450c3a944.jpeg

New setup - Garmin Striker 7CV on a RAM mount with a Scotty transducer arm.

Paddle is being moved to the Port side with the bump-board moving inboard a little bit.

That 'support' under the work-table is not to support the table...it's to stiffen the hull. Still have to get the one under the front seat. 3/8" thick aluminum plate, 2"x4" primed and painted, angle brackets on top to hold it in place.

No - the original plastic seats almost filled the space between the gunwale and keel giving it more rigidity. Removing those created the flex points. I'm just replacing that curved form of the original seats with the 'pillars'...since I use the area under the seats as tackle-bag storage under the mid and rear, and battery space under the front.

Minor work today - earlier pic shows the 'walkway' on the trailer. That one runs from the post to the keel-roller. Today installed the second section that runs from the keel-roller back to the junction of the sections that hold the bunks.

Later I'll cut some 1/4" roofing rubber and glue it to the top of both runs to give me a non-skid surface.

Have you ever installed a bilge pump in your canoe  I just did and it’s working great  have it hard wired to the trolling motor battery on auto and a battery maintainer on it  this I did mostly for when I’m not on the water and it rains out I won’t have that much to bail out .  In mounted it under the rear seat donuts out of the way  and ran the discharge hose out over the side  so far I’ve had a couple rainy days and she hasn’t filled up with water yet. I’ll insert some pics when I can

No, no auto-bilge. Canoe is stored in the garage, so out of the rain except when I have on the water.

I do have a manual pump that I use at the end of the day if needed, but that's been rare.

I just have one more thing to do, then I'll be posting a vid going over everything I've done to it the last three years.

I don’t have a garage to store it in so I do why I must do lol

Finally - mods for this year are complete. Vid to be shot that will be an overview of everything I've done over the past three winters to turn it from a recreational canoe into a fishing machine.

May be an image of indoor

I read that a while ago.  I meant what you just finished :)  Love seeing upgrades.  Have had a fleet of different canoes, love fishing out of them.

This year was just the finishing touches

1: Changed out the Hook 2-4 for a Striker 7cv, transducer mounted on a Scotty arm off the mid seat. (pics on this page)

2: Look under the front seat - I added pillars to under the fore and mid seats to make the hull a little more rigid so it doesn't flex as much when I stand to cast.

3: I also cut and glued down some 1/8" roofing rubber to the 'deck' - add my rubber soled boat sandals and now it's a slip-free surface from bow to under the rear seat.

4: Second walkway on trailer was added behind the keel-roller that's just behind the fore walkway. Both fore and aft walkways were also given the rubber treatment. (fore walkway shown on this page)

Awesome.  Can't wait to see the complete list of mods.  Customizing stuff is super rewarding.

Within the week, I'll be shooting a vid going over everything I've done. Once it's edited and uploaded, I'll post the link.
