Hi, just wondering what y'all thing about synthetic reel oil. I've always used conventional oil made by Daiwa, the needle oiler. Curious as to brand of oil as well. Thanks

I've used ABU reel oil, and Ardent reel oil also. Both work fine.

I used to use Walt's synthetic blend from Bass Pro Rod and Reel repair center.  Then Walt retired and it was no longer available.  So now I just use Shimano oil.

EEZOX CLP is a brand of gun lube/protection that I've used for a lot of years, for all my firearms. They also produce a reel CLP (clean/lub/protect) that I've been using for a short time now, with excellent results. Time will tell, but I trust the brand.

I have tried a lot of them over the years (Daiwa, Ardent reel butter, Quantum Hot Sauce, Shimano, Abu Garcia, Penn, Berkley, Lucas and maybe a few more I can't remember).  Out of all of them I like the original Shimano oil the best, followed by Ardent.  In the end though, all do a good job, some like Abu Garcia seem to work best in their own reels.  The only one that was odd or did not work for me, was the Quantum Hot Sauce.  It was tough to clean out and it seemed to get gummed up over time but it did do a good job of protecting the reels I used it on.  It just didn't seem to make the reels feel as smooth as they should be.
