Learn to catch fish on some new techniques like swimbaits , tube jigs for pre spawn smallies on Lake Erie , catch a 6 pound smallmouth PB and a 8 pound largemouth !! Of course always have fun and enjoy the days on the water. Oh and non fishing related get married in February ..

So far 2018 has been one of my best fishing years with many personal best records beaten and new species of fish caught. I hope to improve my fishing techniques in 2019 and continue to achieve new personal best records and catch new species of fish to add to my list of species of fish caught.

My goals last year were pretty simple:

• Improve my finesse fishing game (primarily drop shot and ned rig)
• Fish more crankbaits. My youngest son was catching bass by the school on crankbaits at times in 2017...
• Catch more and larger fish

Unfortunately I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in May and chemotherapy knocked me out most of this summer, so I did not get to rent a lot of canoes or rowboats to access deeper water to finesse fish in. However as I had caught more fish by the end of July than I caught in 2017 and caught a 5 pounder on a crankbait, I would say I greatly succeeded with the other two.

 

My goals for 2019:

• Improve my finesse fishing game
• Improve my soft plastic fishing game
• Either buy a bass boat or come up with a financial plan to get one in 2020.
• Catch the 23.5" smallmouth I caught in 2017, but this time with a scale. There's a good chance it's a Vermont state record.

My goal is to fish more kayak tourneys next year and so far have a good schedule planned out.

 

First goal is to finish in the top 100 in the KBF National Championship.

My next goal is to do well enough in three regional events so I qualify for the KBF Regional Championship.

I also want to fish in a few local tourneys and finish in the top 15 for AOY.

 

Next year will be very telling whether I can consider myself not only one of the better kayak fishermen in the state but also in the nation.

1) break 8lbs for largemouth. This is a huge goal for me, been hunting this fish for a few years.  My PB is 7.8lbs northern strain largemouth  caught in MA

2) I highly doubt that I will ever catch a 7lbs smallie, but my PB is 6.9 MA smallie, I could tell you before I caught that, I was sayin "I highly doubt I'd break 6lbs"

3) MY FIRST TUNA!!! THIS IS SUPER HIGH ON MY BUCKETLIST!!!!!!  I've been dreaming of this day for  a while, I've gone out after them seen them, never hooked up. Even when casting into blitzing tuna. I dont have the means of getting out after tuna. I need richer friends hahaha!! 

4) MY FIRST FRIGGIN COHO!!!!!!!! Been going to Upstate NY for a few years now, Dying for my first coho, I wish I could fish up there more often to increase my chances, but a 7-8 hour drive is a very long drive. I may have hooked one and lost one this past fall. COULDNT REACH IT WITH THE NET AHHHHHHH, so close to landing this fish, one last run, GOODBYE!!!!! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE ITS A COHO, HAHAHAHAH. 

5) 20lb pike, just got to put in time on the right locations.


6) The most important cuz with this I increase my chances for an 8lbs largemouth, 7lbs smallie and 20lbs pike. 
A JOHN BOAT!!!!  This will change my fishing for ever! I fish out of a kayak and HATE IT. 


7) A 10lb carp, put time into the right locations. 

8 ) A BETTER JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  that way I can afford a better boat and be able to get tuna, and all the other saltwater fish I havent caught yet.

I can keep going with this list, these are the most important, I have a lot of local fish I'm  dying to catch but dont have a way of getting out to them. Living on the ocean with a boat that you cant do much on is tough. I can only stay in close to shore.

1.  Beat 10 pounds, 5 ounces.  I'm going to be targeting my personal best largie again this year.  I've been letting her pond cool off for months.

2.  Complete my rod, reel, and tackle arsenal.  Add electronics to the Hobie.  Anchor trolly, etc.

3. Catch a tarpon on artificial.  I have hooked up with about a 5'er, but lost her after she towed the kayak around. 

4. Start a YouTube channel.

5. Participate in KBF tournaments.
