Dirtyeggroll Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Hi all, I have found a used boat in Morris, Illinois at a dealer by the name of Bedford Sales. The deal on the boat is pretty good and they said they won't let it go out the door until they fully inspected it. I am wondering if anyone has ever delt with Bedford and can share their experience. The deal is borderline too good to be true, but still somewhat believable for a 20+ year old boat in good condition with some bells and whistles. Thanks. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted December 14, 2018 Super User Posted December 14, 2018 Bedford is where I bought my new Ranger many years ago. I’ve known the owner forever. They aren’t big on discounts on new boats, but they’ve been around doing good service for a long time. I trust them. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted December 14, 2018 Super User Posted December 14, 2018 Bedford has a very good reputation Quote
Super User Scott F Posted December 14, 2018 Super User Posted December 14, 2018 If you are coming from Omaha, you won’t be going back for service. Makes sure they double check for any issues Quote

I talked to Sam (the owner) and he said he wouldn't let it go until it had been thoroughly inspected and tuned up (compression test, water pump, etc)... And wouldn't be ready until January and it wouldn't impact the price... The thoroughness seemed too good to be true... But all the reviews and such I can find suggest that is just the culture at Bedford Sales. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted December 14, 2018 Super User Posted December 14, 2018 That's the advantage over buying from a private party. You'll know it's been checked. 1 Quote
RyneB Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 I have had my previous boat serviced by them, and was working with them on trying to get a new Ranger. I ended up going with a Skeeter, but they were great to work with. I even called them to see if they could work on my Yamaha since my local dealer closed shop. They told they dont, but steered me towards a dealer that does. 1 Quote
