Curious how many guys snell fluorocarbon on a flipping hook?  I do it with my braid but have never used fluoro for flipping till recently.

@Wthunter11, in my experience trying a snell knot using fluorocarbon or braid is just as effective, if not more so, than one tied with mono.

I use the snell knot for all my T-rig applications. I strongly suggest keeping a close eye on the line right at the hook eye because it seems to fray a little faster then all the other knots I've used. That said, I have had tremendous success with hook sets using the snell knot. And, it's a breeze to tie, even on a bouncing boat deck.

The turned up eye hook was invented for the snell knot to take off the line stress when tied on a straight eye hook. Today anglers use the snell knot believing it improves hook sets, it doesn't but does add stress to the line as the turned up eye proved increasing the knot strength. What is missing is a turned up closed eye flipping hook for snell knots.

I know don't confuse me with facts my mind is made up!

The only time I use a snell knot is on my punch rigs.  I still struggle tying it, but I've been trying a couple different ones this off season.

I snell a lot and i never seem to have any issues.  The one bit thing to look for is the eye of the hook.  Good quality hooks are welded shut or are coated.  I got some junker bps hooks and when i tighten down the line the sharp edge just cuts the line.  Owner and gamy never give me issues.

I Snell 8/0 and 9/0 circle hooks for flatheads. That's bout it.

We use live crappie, red breasts, warmouth, shell crackers, any panfish for bait.

I always snell a circle hook when wacky rigging stick worms. Works very well, as long as the hook has a turned up eye.

I have never used a snell with anything but braid. Had been curious about trying it with fluorocarbon until I didnt snell my punch rig one tourney and my hook up ratio was 100% so now I just use a palomar for braid and San Diego jam for fluoro and mono

I live by the Diego on fluoro. First full season tying it and boy what a difference over other knots
