I’m getting a new reel for Christmas this year, a Abu Garcia Orra S Spinning Reel. I just not sure which one to get the orra30 or orra40??? I just fish for bass and want to make sur which one would be better for bass fishing. Thanks for your input Merry Christmas

While I haven't handled these reels, I've looked at the specs.

The "standard" for bass fishing is a 2500 size reel. But this doesn't mean

we can't deviate from that standard and do just fine.

I use 1000 size Stradics as my "standards".

Personally I think I'd pick the 30 size, and primarily because it is lighter.

Either will perform well, and if you picked the 40 you'd be in good company

with an FLW Pro that uses 4000 size spinning reels for his arsenal.

For what it's worth. :)

I have a 20 and it is a perfect size, imo.  Very nice reel, but treat it well.  A couple metal-looking parts are actually plastic.  I've ordered parts and done simple repairs myself, but just would have been a little gentler had I realized the fragility earlier.

IMO the Orras40 is too big for bass fishing. I have the Orras30 on my backup spinning rod and really like it.

I just ordered the Orras40 because I have large hands and thought that would be better to use. Now I’m thinking of sending it back to TW when I get it and exchange it for the Orras30 or will the 40 still work ok??? I wonder how TW is about  exchanges???

You'll be fine - it's less than an ounce heavier.

send it back if your not happy TW is one of the easiest online retailers to deal with you wont have to pay nothing just fill out the paper work state your reason for the exchange in this case you ordered the wrong size and place the return label on box send it back... send it... don't be stuck with a reel your not happy with I personally would not be happy with a 4000 size reel I have owned a couple of abu Garcia spinning reels and the 30 is the highest your gonna want to go in fresh water even the size 20 size is a perfect size the I have owned both the 20 and the 30 sizes I prefer the 20 but the 30 is extremely comfortable. When you return it you get your return swiftly no questions asked you don't even have to call unless your like me. I bug a lot but wait a couple of days for them to get it and ask for an email verification if you so desire. TW is the bestes.

I got to see the reel before my wife  wrapped it up and I think it’ll be just fine.
