Super User A-Jay Posted March 31, 2019 Author Super User Posted March 31, 2019 A little more than two weeks from today this time last year ~ Be nice if I could avoid most all of this mess until next Christmas. A-Jay Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted March 31, 2019 Super User Posted March 31, 2019 Skunked again this weekend. Lost a crankbait and a couple of jigs to snags. Saturday was a good weather day. Today was low 40’s and rain. On the bright side one of the local ponds is almost ice free today and should be this week. I will definitely be visiting it next weekend. I am going to soak some worms to get a Bullhead just to catch something in my home waters. I surely would have gone mad already if not for my Florida trip to shake the skunk off of 2019 Quote

I surely would have gone mad already if not for my Florida trip to shake the skunk off of 2019 I've been thinking about just cat fishing for a couple weeks until the garbage weather clears out. I was watching a guy fish for catfish while I fished for bass the other day. He hooked into a decent on and it broke his line. He was using what looked to be a little ultra light rod and a little spincast reel. Probably didn't have more than 6lb line on it. He shouted that he needs to get stronger line. I'm thinking no kidding man, and stronger gear in general. 1 Quote
Glaucus Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 It will be 27* at 6am and 50* by 4pm. I'm going to give it a go, but the whole weekend was cold so it will probably be slow. Quote

Ours often seems a little on the brief side as well. Hope it falls on a weekend this year . . To that end, we've seen some of the right signs: 5 big fat geese, 4 Robins chirping, 3 baby rabbits, two porcupines, but we still have a ton of hard ice. Sing it with me . . . A-Jay Quote

Who knows maybe all three days. Now THAT is great to hear. Good for you Sir ! PSA ~ Remember, don't drown the trailer when you re-load your rig. Sink it totally to wet your bunks initially, and then pull it out to where you have an inch or so of your fenders out of the drink. Start there and adjust as needed. Starting off - Too shallow a trailer is better than too deep - which can complicate a meant to be easy evolution. Good Luck my friend. A-Jay 1 Quote

Glaucus Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 50* and 20mph winds today after being in the 30s, 40s, and very low 50s for several days with overnight lows in the 20s. Shut the fish off again and the wind made it brutal this evening. Not even a sniff. Quote

I’ll report back on the maiden voyage Sunday or Monday. 1 Quote

Super User Paul Roberts Posted April 4, 2019 Super User Posted April 4, 2019 @J FranchoFranchoFrancFranchFraFranchFranchoFranchoF ???? Anyway... Those Roch winter's can get rough by the end. Dark and dreary. Is that why Roch drivers are the meanest on planet Earth? Hope you get out in some wonderful spring weather soon. 1 Quote
