Ran338 Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Good evening I'm about to buy a bass raider 10e and I was wondering is it good for big lakes or just ponds and all that Quote
BigRed1977 Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 I'd say it depends on the lake. Some lakes are huge without anything to block the wind. Some lakes are huge and are narrow or have lots of islands that block the wind. Or they are in mountain valleys that block the wind so waves are not an issue. I live in the Charleston area and I've seen kite surfers in the middle of the harbor on windy days, paddle boarders and kayaks in the harbor or in the santee cooper system. Unless you are actually going offshore (ocean) I think you can use just about any sized boat if you use common sense. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 10, 2018 Super User Posted December 10, 2018 Weather and boat traffic will be your limiting factors, not the size of the water. You also probably should check out this thread. Everything you ever wanted to know is in there. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted December 10, 2018 Super User Posted December 10, 2018 Welcome aboard! Your best answer is ^^^ from @J Francho. I looked at these years ago, ended up going the kayak way. but these would have been better when my boys were younger.... 1 Quote
OCdockskipper Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 As said above, it is not the size of the water, but traffic & wind patterns that limit where to use them. I love my Pond Prowler, but would only recommend using it on an electric only lake, no wake areas or areas where winds won't commonly create whitecaps. It is the wrong design for rough waters where waves can easily break over the low bow. Quote
LonnieP Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 I fish a 3100 acre lake with a 10’ Pond Prowler. I stay back in the creek though from May to September to avoid the wake from all the boats. I don’t mind riding out the occasional wake but having to stop fishing every few minutes every time a boat goes by gets old fast. Quote
