Power pro fraying

Has anyone else experienced original power pro fraying, particularly towards the end of the line where it runs through guides from the reel to the lure?. I’ve had power pro begin to start looking fuzzy after lots of use and many casts but this seems to be actual fraying I have been using power pro for about 15 years and have never had an issue until this season. This was all new braid purchased this year. this happened on 3 different rods with 15, 20, and 30lb braid. No issues with 50lb on frog rod.  And yes I’ve checked my rod guides for cracks

I've only been using braid for a few years. I started out with PowerPro, tried slick80 a little but didn't like it, now using Kastking. They all fray at the end in my experience. I use a leader, and every time I tie one on, I burn the end of the braid with a lighter to seal it. That stops the fraying. The Slick80 might have frayed a little less.

They even make a thing for 'cauterizing' the line. Berkley Hot line cutter.

Yep, all braids do this.  That means it's time to retie.

 

Also, check you guides for cracks or chips.  That will fray braid really quick.  Run a q-tip around each and look for snags.

If you're fishing dirty water, clean your guides regularly too.

I thought Justin meant at the knot, but if we're talking about the last few feet of line getting frayed, no, I've never seen that and I've kept some braid on for several months of heavy use.

 

Are you fishing where there might be something on the bottom like rusted metal edges, or a riprap ledge?
