Super User gim Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 Alright, who here goes through the process of buying a real pine tree, hauling it home, setting it up, removing it, and disposing of it every holiday season? I used to get one for a couple years but the hassle of all that, plus the cost every season, plus pine needles in my house drove me to buy a fake one that is a one time investment. Quote
Arcs&sparks Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 No joke, I was reading this, and as a bachelor I thought to myself “well neither”. Right then someone sent me a text with a picture asking if my tree will look like this; (Something from Facebook I imagine) to answer the question, I think I might go with fake this year ? 5 5 Quote
NittyGrittyBoy Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Now that's a bachelor tree! ? fake one for me. I hate cleaning pine needles Quote
Buckeye Ron Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 The ladies in my house have a silver tree, a white tree, and a rose gold colored tree. I almost forgot, our “primary” tree is one of those fake spruce trees with the even more fake snow on the branches. I don’t even want to think about all the stuff they have set out to decorate with. Oh well, keeps em’ happy. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 Real only ? The Nordmann Fir needles have a subtle light-blue underside which lights up the appearance of the layered branches, their dark green needles are short and smooth and covered with a waxy cuticle which prevents water loss. Nordmann Fir is the longest lasting Christmas tree in your home & will have little or no needle loss throughout the holiday season. 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 I'm surrounded by them ~ But there's only one problem with having the real McCoy in my home . . . Happy Holidays A-Jay 9 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 4, 2018 Global Moderator Posted December 4, 2018 Fake. Had real trees my entire life until I moved in with my wife when we were dating. I'm not sure one is any less hassle than the other. We always went and cut our own cedar tree, it was pretty enjoyable as a kid. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 Fake. It's hard to tell the difference, unless you are close to it, or have eagle eyes. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 Fake. We've had the same tree for 25 years. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted December 4, 2018 Global Moderator Posted December 4, 2018 Growing up my parents had one of those silver metal trees. For lights they had a rotating colored wheel with a 100watt bulb behind it.!! The first Christmas after my wife and I got married she asked what kind of tree should we get, needless to say I ran out and got a real one. That was 48 yrs ago and wouldn't even think about getting a fake one. Its only once a year. Mike 2 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 Ya ain't lived until you've brought a real tree in the house and it's got a bunch of bee's in it that thaw out after a couple hours.....OMG. We do both but mostly artificial now....and yes....I spray all real tree's too now! 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 I used to do real trees, but we have a pre-lit artificial now. Funny thing, it's dropping needles. Might be time for a new one. 1 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 Festivus for the rest of us! No needles and no hassles. 3 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 But first, we need to air our grievances and commit feats of strength. 3 1 Quote
Crappiebasser Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 We have a fake tree in the house but I dispose of a lot real trees every year for our lakes habitat program. 1 Quote

I hate cleaning pine needles My artificial tree is so realistic, it loses its needles. Seriously. I have to vacuum after putting it up and after I put it away. And last week I had to use some wire cutters to snip off some of the branches that were getting bare. Me thinks it might be time for me to think about getting a new one. Super User Log Catcher Posted December 6, 2018 Super User Posted December 6, 2018 We finally got tired putting up the bigger artificial tree. Last year we bought a little 4' tree that sits on table. Already pre lit. Just add a few little decorations. Quote
Scarborough817 Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 always go real to me the fresh smell always, always wins over the work involved Quote

Ive never seen a cedar Christmas tree, that sounds very neat. Is that common down your way? I’ll bet the house had a nice aroma. Quote

Not sure if it's common but there's lots of cedars here and we didn't have extra money for a tree growing up so cutting a free tree just made sense. They always did smell really nice. 1 Quote
