I use to hate setting my tackle box down, walk off fishing and have to keep walking back to get it haha Ya the only thing that sucks is it’s disorganized. I got several size so I know what is what. Other than that it wouldn’t be bad. Quote

I just need something that I can put all my stuff in. When I go fishing I never know what we may be going for. X2 when I'm not on boat a backpack is great I can put as little or way too much in it? Got big pocket on top for small plastics or smaller utility boxes. I like the designated spot for pliers. Has a rod holder for those rods that can break down. 1 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 I'll never own another one that you can pick up from the top while it's unlatched and dump the top of the tackle box all over the place. I can't tell you how many times I did that as a kid. Enough times that I put everything valuable in the lower trays. 2 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted December 4, 2018 Super User Posted December 4, 2018 I have at least 20 Plano 3700 tackle boxes filled with lures and other tackle that I store in my house. When I go fishing I use a backpack to store 1-2 Plano 3700 boxes with the lures I need for that day. So far it has worked great for me. Quote

RetiredGuy Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 Gah - I could MAYBE fill 4-3700's...if I put my wrapped bags of worms/grubs/etc in long slots. As long as I've been fishing (50+ years) I still can't wrap my head around having so much tackle - I'd go into a panic attack trying to decide what to use next. Quote
RetiredGuy Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 I have a plain old tackle box with not much in it 1 Quote
Will Wetline Posted December 4, 2018 Posted December 4, 2018 My tackle box is a portable file carrier from Staples which holds 6 Plano 3700s. To its right is a utility carrier which stores the tools you see on the middle seat of the 14' rental boat I fish from as well as small Plano boxes of hooks, weights and etc. The dry bag in the stern holds 3 Plano 3600s. extra clothes and, of course, a thermos of coffee. 3 Quote

The 3600 box has my short worms. Two stacked 3455 boxes have my jig heads, weights and hooks. I hear ya I really do. I just like watching shows and buying the baits to see if they work. Quote

Will, The pic of your setup takes me back 40 years to my Dad's backwater honey hole. I'm sitting on the bench seat casting a weedless, hand poured, flat tail worm with a Zebco 33 while Dad is wearing them out with his various Abu 5500C's and 5000A's. Thanks for the refreshed memories. Quote

Backpacks, worm bags, "regular" tackle boxes, utility boxes, and so forth. I currently use a Plano Guide Series box for freshwater, something similar for salt. That said, I am ALWAYS looking for more efficient methods. I *almost* went with what @Catt and @J Francho like. That may be on my radar in 2019 to try out. I really like BPS's utility boxes for senko and other soft plastic storage.... I like mine a lot. This is my "carry all" box where I have a bit of everything and it does a good job holding spinnerbaits and buzzbaits (in the bottom). I got mine used so it's missing some of the smaller boxes in the bottom but I use that space to hold my gulp containers and some bags of plastic. The only "issue" I've had with it is if you aren't careful to make sure it's latched and you pick it up by the handle, it will dump your baits EVERYWHERE. But a lot of boxes have that issue. 1 Quote

You got that right. I've had that happen a few times, so I got VERY observant and always leave at least one top latch shut when I'm out on the water...bottom is closed most of the time. Quote

Nice looking backpack. https://www.kastking.com/kastking-pond-hopper-fishing-sling-tackle-storage-bag_p0251.html I may eventually get one of the Kastking pond hopper sling backpacks. They look like they really put some thought into these packs as far as storage and access to tools. Sold out on Amazon but it looks to still be available from the Kastking website. Quote
Tyler. Posted January 5, 2019 Author Posted January 5, 2019 Alright. I got this today at Academy. This thing is awesome. Holds 4 large tackle boxes (3600 size). I am able to put several spools of fishing line. Can put more utility boxes as needed. It is also amazingly comfortable to carry on your back. It has padding on the back to help protect the stabbing in your back from anything. Check it out! $50 worth it. Also has cloth small pouch on top that I did not show that you use to keep sunglasses in. 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted January 5, 2019 Super User Posted January 5, 2019 https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-extreme-qualifier-370-tackle-bag-or-system This is what I use when I am forced to fish as a co-angler and it holds everything I need not everything I want to bring. Besides that I use the lockers on my X-18 Xpress. Allen Quote
kenmitch Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Kayak fisherman so got to maximize my storage space. I had to wait a while before getting these as they usually go for retail. Just had to wait for stock and coupon codes from ACK. Dang things are pricey at full retail. 15-20% off coupon codes softened the blow but they sure do make it convenient. I also have one of these in the front cuby hole. I picked it up on sale at BPS. It holds a lot of stuff but the storage boxes were moved to the behind and under the seat storage. Quote
FishDewd Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 I have several "tackle bags" but I almost never carry everything I have unless I am going on a fishing trip for a few days or, in areas I don't know what to expect. For waters I know, I have a few "speed boxes" set up with specific techniques. These boxes are typically the single sided plano clear plastic snap boxes you can find in most places that sell any sort of tackle. For example, I have a box just for topwater, with a few shallow lures like suspending/floating jerkbaits and inline spinners tossed in. Most mostly it's a box of poppers, ploppers, few frogs etc. Have another box for jigs, plastics, and other techniques for the bottom. Another box for midrange baits, like cranks, deeper suspending jerkbaits, etc. I have a little mixed box that has a bit of this and that that I frequently use, which also contains common hooks, sinkers, and tackles I may need. Then another master tackles box that's just full of all of my tackles that I can pick from to load in one of my other specialized boxes I plan to use that day. This seems to work best for me to not carry too much and still stay organized. Here's my topwater box Quote

Super User MN Fisher Posted January 6, 2019 Super User Posted January 6, 2019 This is my one - so far. Cabela's Advanced Angler Tackle Bag - 3600 size, holds six boxes in the main compartment and the front pouch will hold another. Side pouches for various things. I'm happy with it as it holds all the tackle I own with room for the things I still want to get. Quote
Tyler. Posted January 6, 2019 Author Posted January 6, 2019 I wanted something that holds tackle boxes flat rather than on their side. Tired of my hooks jumping from one section to the other. I believe that backpack accomplished that. I like how I have room for sweatshirt and anything else I may need. It’s good for me because when I go out of town I never know what I’ll be going for and it’s easy to carry between places and throw on the boat or carry to the shoreline. Quote
