Quabbin local looking for fishing partner

So...I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for someone to fish quabbin with.  I preferr you know it and have a bass boat.  I have been fishing there for 18 years from there rental boats and am tired of the small motors and leaky boats.  I'll show you what I know.  You show me what you do.  I am pretty dedicated to Quabbin. I fish for both species and continue to fish throughout the summer there.  Ask me more.  I fish as often as possible...but always always one weekend day.  Anyone want to learn quabbin??  You have to dedicate your boat to the seal....or pay for half the rentals.

Wish I lived closer. The last time I was there I got a 6.9 smallie on a topwater, that was in 2016

A bunch of us on this thread fish the Quabbin a few times a year.  Some know it well.  I can’t help you with a boat, but then again, I don’t mind the state’s slow, leaky boats....

There’s a handful of guys on here with Quabbin rigs - maybe one of them will reach out to you.  I usually fish it a half dozen or so times a year from a rental- I’ve done pretty well and have learned a lot about the reservoir over the past few years.  Awesome place to fish, just hate the boat and horsepower restrictions.  I recently bought a bass boat that is too big and fast for the quabbin, so my trips out there will probably decrease by quite a bit.. maybe one of my buddies will bites the bullet and invest in a cheap quabbin boat, that would be cool ?.

thanks bud! broke 5lbs twice that day. 5.5 and 6.9. fished 10 hours without a bite, I was praying for one fish. It went from zero to 60 in seconds haha

I hear ya.  My biggest is 6lbs and had two others that day over 5 for a 5 fish limit over 24lbs.  Had two other days with 5 fish limits over 23lbs.

Late April and early May are great for the big prespawners.  Late May and early June is a lot of fun to chase the smaller males up shallow and catch a bunch in a day as well!

 

last april I caught a ton of lake trout in relatively shallow water on bass tackle, the Quabbin is VERY high in water levels right now, been on the increase for a couple of seasons now.  Makes it quite a bit different to fish when some of my typical offshore hot spots are 10’ deeper than I’m used to.

yeah...I mean..I have fished there weekly for the last 11 years.  Its the only place I fish unless someone with a boat brings me someplace else.  I am buying a boat for quabbin this winter.  Last year I had 47 rental tickets by closingday.  I think that is an average for the 11 years, so I know it pretty well.  It is at the same level now as when I first fished it...and theres a lot of stuff underwater that hasnt been for a very long time.  Obviously the smallmouth season is awesome...but I spend the summer trying to catch some of the largemouth there.  They are super challenging to catch, and once the smallmouth bail to water really hard to fish with the rentals...its largemoth time till sepyember 15th or so...

I live in PA, but have family in MA, have wanted to fish the quabbin for a while. Would love to fish sometime!
