I see the Tackle Junkies started a thread on what they purchased for tackle. I thought it would be fun to see what people purchased over the bonanza that is Black Friday sales! I spent plenty of money on tackle, but I also bought three new rods and three new reels. :)

Dobyn's Colt 734 x Abu Garcia Pro Max - Purchased for throwing an S Waver and possibly branching into other larger baits... Should be interesting since I've never used a bait caster. *Yikes*

Kistler Helium 3 Light MH 7'0 Spinning x Daiwa Fuego 2500 - Swim Jigs/Jigs/Bottom contact

Shimano Zodias x Daiwa Fuego 2500 - Drop Shot/Ned Rig/3 inch swim baits

Hope others were blessed enough to buy some rods/reels they had their eyes on.... now all I can do is stare at them while I reluctantly go ice fishing. :(

I had seen a Powell M/XF spinning rod on the clearance rack at my local Field and Stream about a month ago and it was exactly what I had been looking for.  They wanted $79 (retail $99) and that wasn't enough discount for me.  My wife wanted some new workout clothes so she wanted to be at Dick's on T-Giving when they opened at 6pm for their sale.  I tagged along and sure enough the Powell was still there.  Got it for $54.  Then I noticed a Fenwick Elite Tech casting rod on the clearance rack ($150 retail).  I bought that for $74.  Then I got home and saw a post on this forum that Duckett had a deal if you buy one Terex for $100 (normally $130) they send you a second Terex MH casting rod for free! So I bought a Terex spinning rod.  I just couldn't pass these deals up.  Normally I don't even shop on Black Friday!  LOL

Birdman, I don't think you are done shopping yet.  Japantackle has the Shimano Scorpion 70/71 on sale for $172 (from $245).  And, yes, I have one on the way.  Surely you could find another rod on sale.  :D  Me and the Bait Monkey are pals.  I help him when I can.   :rofl_red:

EDIT:  I gave in to the Bait Monkey after promising myself I wouldn't be such an easy mark.  I just received an Okuma Helios SX and have a Supreme XT (BC reel) on the way.  Also a Lew's 7'6" MF Custom Pro Stick (casting) on the way.  My first Lew's rod.

Daiwa 7'2" MH/R Glass Cranking Rod (I actually have the old version, but got the new one as I use it a lot and having matching handles will be nice)

Daiwa 7' M/R Glass Cranking Rod

St Croix Mojo Bass 6'8" M?XF (topwater) rod

Pflueger Patriarch Reel

Then about $500 pre 20% discount in lures, mostly cranks with different wobbles and some poppers, jerkbaits and spinnerbaits as I lost a few last year.

So I'm going to need a reel and some line and I'm set for next year!

I'll post pictures when my orders arrive...

The 704S and the Daiwa RG is my fathers Christmas gift, so yeah, he'll love it when we go to Canada in May next year.

I loved fishing in Canada! Never know if you're getting a bass, pike, bullhead or a muskie up there!

Pflueger Summit XT for half price that Replaces an old Shimano Spirex. Also got some Get Bit Baits tubes (not on sale). I'm anticipating a trip to Sturgeon Bay next spring and heard good things about them, and they're made right there in GB.

I have a Scorpion 71 XG on the way from Digitaka shipped for $175.16. I wonder if they are going to discontinue that line.

Got a Major Craft NAS-F691M and several spools of line. Technically, the the rod is a gift though so I'll have to wait a few weeks to use it. Almost pulled the trigger on a new Dobyns too but was able to resist temptation

I bought Defier and Defier Armillo from TW, still think it was overpriced even with 20% off but maybe I'll change my mind this spring after using it.

I picked up a Fury 795SB to throw 68 Specials and BBZ Rat 50’s on, but unfortunately I am not really digging it.  I stuck a daiwa millionaire cv-z 253a I had laying around on it but it’s very cumbersome to cast and doesnt feel any more powerful nor cast further then the Hyuga 72H/sv103 combo I have been throwing those lures on.  I am going to stick a sv103 on it and try again this weekend, but I fear that I am gonna end up selling it off and getting a more powerful rod.

Just took his hand and skipped through the store together is more like it ?

I spent $40 on Overstocks War Eagle sale and I bought a Lucky Craft pointer 158 from Ilovehardbaits.

Didn't buy much this year, just line to respool for next year, replaced some cranks, sinkers, and some swim bait hooks.

The bait monkey and I have redefined our relationship this holiday season. We will most likely pick each other's fleas off until mid March.
