hahmmo Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Hi members, I really enjoyed shopping during blackfriday, ended up ordering 4 rods which are more than what I probably need as novice.. It also incurred wrath of my wife, so I will get to keep only 2 of them 1. lews custom speedstick jerkbait 6’7 medium/moderate fast, 8-14 lbs line, 1/4~3/4 oz lure 2. lews custom speedstick squarebill 6’9 medium heavy/moderate fast, 10-17 lbs line, 1/4~3/4 oz lure 3. Fenwick HMG 6’6 medium/fast, 8-17 lbs line, 1/4~3/4 oz lure 4. Fenwick HMG 6’6 medium heavy/fast, 10-20 lbs line, 3/8~1 oz lure Which 2 rods would you keep? I am looking for rods that will serve multi-purpose and compliment each other, mostly bank fishing. I want to have total 3 rod set up, including my fenwick medium/fast spinning rods that does most of light duty.. Thanks for any opinion in advance! Quote
MrFrost Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I like 3 and 4 personally, but I'm a little biased towards Fenwick, as they're one of my preferred Rod brands. Aside from brand preference, the only real comparative reason for me choosing the Fenwick's is I prefer a M/F or MH/F setup. Again, just my personal preference. 3 Quote
ratherbfishin1 Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 My vote would be 4 and either 1 or 2. Number 4 would be great for everything except some treble hooked stuff and that is where you would use 1 or 2. 1 Quote
Backroad Angler Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 My vote would be 4 for the multi purpose, and probably 2 for treble hook lures, although 1 would'nt be a bad choice either for treble hook lures. 1 Quote
LegendaryBassin Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Keep the Fenwicks. Not a fan of Lews rods at all. 1 Quote
ohboyitsrobby Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 2 and 4. that'd pretty much cover most of the situations and techniques. 1 Quote
hahmmo Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 Thanks for inputs! It looks like I should keep #4 for sure! Quote

I think the decision is now between 1 and 2 personally and it really just depends on what you personally want. It is a Medium vs a Medium heavy so you just have to make the decision. I don't think it will do you much good to have number 3 as well as number 4 though. If it were me I would probably choose number 2 but I would have to feel them both side by side first... 2 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted November 29, 2018 Super User Posted November 29, 2018 Keep all 4, most couches are surprisingly comfy... 5 Quote
GReb Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Unless you do a lot of deep cranking I’d keep 3 and 4. Much more versatile. 2 Quote
deadadrift89 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 #2,#4 for my vote. #2 would work on a large range of treble hook baits. #4 would be a good all around rod for lots of single hook baits. Have stuff delivered to friends house or work to avoid wife confrontation in future ?? 2 Quote
J.Vincent Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 I agree #2 and #4 are keepers, but it depends what you already own... 2 Quote
Super User burrows Posted November 30, 2018 Super User Posted November 30, 2018 It really just depends on what you need get rid of the rods that your likely not going to need. 1 Quote
