CybrSlydr Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Only chance I'm going to have to do some fishing this weekend is on Saturday and the weather isn't looking so hot anywhere around me. Either light rain or up to half an inch of it. High/Low in the mid 50s after a week in the 30s and below. If I'm wanting to bass fish, do you think it's worth going out? Quote
CybrSlydr Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 I'm thinking I'll hit up Tycoon lake since it's west of me and most of their rain should be on Friday rather than Saturday. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/39.4297794,-81.4333111/Tycoon+Lake+-+South+Dam,+Bidwell,+OH+45614/@38.9228168,-82.3537136,679m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m18!1m7!3m6!1s0x88462f990710feb7:0x473983a84f904a45!2sTycoon+Lake+-+South+Dam,+Bidwell,+OH+45614!3b1!8m2!3d38.9217441!4d-82.3532088!4m9!1m1!4e1!1m5!1m1!1s0x88462f990710feb7:0x473983a84f904a45!2m2!1d-82.3532088!2d38.9217441!3e0 Quote
Russ E Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I would go fishing. Depending on the water temp, a warm rain might get the bass biting. For whatever the reason, in late fall and winter I catch more fish in nasty weather. If conditions are not favorable for the fisherman, the fish are often biting. 3 Quote
CybrSlydr Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 Just now, Russ E said: I would go fishing. Depending on the water temp, a warm rain might get the bass biting. For whatever the reason, in late fall and winter I catch more fish in nasty weather. If conditions are not favorable for the fisherman, the fish are often biting. That's why God had man invent waders and polar-tec! The conditions don't bother me, I just don't want to head out if conditions figure the fish shut down. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted November 29, 2018 Global Moderator Posted November 29, 2018 I'm going this weekend! Like @Russ E said, the worse the weather the better the bite. What really shuts them down is bright bluebird sky on my reservoirs. 4 Quote
CybrSlydr Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 I think I'm going to give a Float n Fly presentation a shot. See if that works for me. Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I'll be fishing small deep ponds in MA this weekend. Water temps at or near 40, hell they are ice fishing an hours drive. Blade baits, hair jigs on the menu. Find the deep structure, deep flats, drops offs and deep humps. These are new ponds to me, but i'm confident ill get them, especially if they have smallies. Smallies are the easiest to get in the cold, THEY STACK UP BIGGGG TIME!!!!!!! When you get one smallie you'll get a few more. Some guys that fish the bigger lakes around me with their big boats, SLLLLLAAAYYY. They find a pile of smallies. 20lbs bags. The trick is to find them. Some times they are hard to see on the finder cuz they are glued to the bottom. I only fish in a yak so big lakes are out of the question. I stick to smaller ponds. 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted November 30, 2018 Super User Posted November 30, 2018 It's always worth going out...if I can get out of the drive way. Personally...I enjoy the challenge and the beauty of each day given to us....I know this will change someday.....but....today....bring it. 3 Quote
Derek1 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 I’m gonna try for a few hours Each day. I’ve been going faithfully every day for a hour or two since Saturday, not so much as a bite. This year threatens ice much earlier then usual, so my days are numbered. Atleast I’m forcing myself to learn how to slow down certain presentations. Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 If you're worried about how the fishing will be, then focus on the opportunity to be outside on water observing the beauty of nature after a cold uninviting week. Go. ? 3 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted November 30, 2018 Super User Posted November 30, 2018 Fishing was slow one day this week but it was oh so cool to watch the bald eagles scaring the poooh out of the ducks!! 1 Quote
