SMITTY0045 Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Recently I purchased a Pflueger Summit XT spinning reel from Cabelas as part of their Black Friday deals. I got the 25 size reel, but it seems smaller than my 2500 size Shimano Sahara. Are these real sizes not actually comparable based on the number rating between brands or am I just imagining the size difference? Quote
Vilas15 Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Theyre different sizes. Theres no standard between the brands. Youre best off looking at line capacity and weight to compare similar sizes. I just got a summit xt 30 size which is more similar to a shimano 2500. 1 Quote
fin Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 Yeah, I just ordered a Pflueger President to replace a Shimano Sienna 2500, and I had to order a 3000 in the Pflueger size to match what I had. It's kind of confusing. It can affect the max drag and weight of the reel. Compare the specs between the two - you might want to return it. Quote
SMITTY0045 Posted November 25, 2018 Author Posted November 25, 2018 Ok good to know when it comes to my Christmas list. Wish they would just use standard sizing but I guess I’ll have to go look in store before buying online Quote
fin Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 You don't have to go to store, it should be shown anywhere you buy it online, but if not, go to the manufacturer's site. I'm not familiar with Cabela's site. On Amazon, you scroll down the page and there should be a chart showing the different sizes with all the specs. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted November 25, 2018 Super User Posted November 25, 2018 For future reference: I have found Pflueger 25 ~ Daiwa/Shimano 1000 Pflueger 30 ~ Daiwa/Shimano 2000 Pflueger 35 ~ Daiwa/Shimano 2500 Pflueger 40 ~ Daiwa/Shimano 3000 And to further confuse things: Abu 10 ~ Pflueger 25 ~ Daiwa/Shimano 1000 Abu 20 ~ Pflueger 30 ~ Daiwa/Shimano 2000 Abu 30 ~ Pflueger 35 ~ Daiwa/Shimano 2500 Abu 40 ~ Pflueger 40 ~ Daiwa/Shimano 3000 Of course those are all "close".....in reality, I find, for example, the Pflueger 30 size to be almost "in-between" a Daiwa/Shimano 2000-2500, and the Pflueger 35 sized reels to be slightly larger than Daiwa/Shimano 2500's 1 Quote
Super User Munkin Posted November 26, 2018 Super User Posted November 26, 2018 Do you have a Pflueger to Quantum chart? Allen Quote
