What are the best baits to fish at Pickwick Lake in December? Please feel free to add any other helpful info. Is live bait better at that time?

I would take the advice of @roadwarrior on this question but for me almost anything is still in play for December . Water temp should be around 55 so it probably depends on which part of the lake you are fishing. A lot of folks are going to be the throwing umbrella rigs in shallow water because the shad seem to gravitate there . Suspending jerkbait is also good . Finesse presentations will catch some big ones, think small stuff you might throw for crappie. There always a crappie fisherman accidentally catching big bass, especially smallmouth . Live bait is best about 99% of the time in my opinion but it can be hard to catch. Fishing the tail waters is a good bet in winter, always wear a life jacket near the dams

The Outpost just north of the dam carries the biggest minnows I have found.
