Just bought a Lew's Carbon fire and I couldn't find any reviews for it online so I decided to do one. Keep in mind that it just came this morning and I haven't fished it yet so this is kind of a work in progress review. I'll update it as soon as I get a chance to fish it. (possible this afternoon if I have time to throw my new jerkbait with it before we leave for my grandma's house)

First impressions: Looks really nice. You can tell they spent time on the cosmetics. It's not the lightest rod ever, but it seems well balanced and it's comfortable to hold with a lightweight reel on it. Another thing I noticed was the skeleton reel seat; it apparently increases sensitivity because your index finger is directly touching the blank. The guides but they look pretty quality, they're all perfectly lined up, and the rod blank is arrow straight. Another thing I noticed out of the box was that it's stiff. Definitely a true MH/Fast action, which you want for T-rigs/jigs/etc.

I'll update this ASAP after I test it on the water. Btw it's on sale for $60 down from $80 at Dick's Sports right now; it seems like a great rod for $60 imo. Tight lines. ?

Great choice. I have the ML spinning version as a dedicated Ned Rig rod. I caught a 3lb Channel Cat on it paired with a size 1500 Kastking Sharky II reel.

It is sensitive and stong. Looks great with the Winn grip. Overall I am pleased with it. Can’t beat it at the sale price. I have seen it go as low as half price.

I got the 7'-3" Heavy casting rod last year for half price on Cyber Monday. It worked well for frogs, Whopper Plopper 110/130, and any flipping and pitching when braid was required. They seem like a pretty good value. Will probably pick up 1 or 2 other models in the next week or so while they're on sale.

Won't be refunding it but thanks for telling me about that sale because I was planning on just buying the mach crush for full price right before Christmas.

Maybe he was just a little over zealous and a better title might have been "first impression", not "review". I think we've all felt that at some point when we get new tackle. You could do a "first impression of my Aston Martin sitting in the driveway" ?

Congrats on the new rod EG. Hope you catch many big 'uns on it!

He did say it was a review of his first impressions not an on the water review. First impression of the product is important with rod in hand you can get a good feel of the rod and even feel some of the sensitivity of it also the build and quality of the handle guides and so on.

That's a heck of a deal. Unfortunately I don't need a new rod and reel. I bought the Lew's Mach II SLP Combo this past summer.

Update: Used mine yesterday, and I can tell it's a good rod. Plus you can get one for $30 at Dick's Sports right now.

I am a fan of this rod, I have 4 or them. They go on sale a lot, wait for the 50% off sale like I did, at 40 bucks they are well worth it. I have the 7'3" heavy, two 7' MH/F and the 6'8" M/F they all work well. They are a good all around rod if you are on a budget, sensitive and durable. I have mine paired with the Lews Tournament MB and the Lews Speed Spool LFS reels, very happy with these setups.
