Hello all,

I have returned to the forum after quite a hiatus. Just been really busy with work and life. I have a full time job as a deputy sheriff here in Polk County, FL, that I have been working at for going on 5 years now. I also had a kid with my wife of 10 years, so that's taken up a bit of time as well.

Re-introductions aside, I am looking to get back into fishing regularly on my days off. If anyone has any good little ponds or parks to fish here in Polk County, I'd love to hear about them or meet up and fish for a bit. I've gone to some of the regular places like Saddle Creek and Tenoroc here in Lakeland. However, I hate having to pay all the time at Tenoroc, and Saddle Creek gets molested by the cast net thowers. Along with many of the other parks around here. I mainly fish from the bank, I don't have a boat. I only practice catch and release as well. So, with that said, let's see what y'all have to contribute.

With you being with the SO you might be able to get access to old Mosaic pits in Ft Meade and Bowling Green granted. I use to work there and know they are full of huge bass.

If you're ever in Highlands county hit me up. I'm always down to fish.

LOL, just cause I have access doesn't mean I should use it. ? Mosaic usually doesn't like outsiders on their property, I recently worked a case where problems arose between a Mosaic and CSX worker. I do think there are some old Mosaic ponds in Mulberry though that are open access.

There are some old mosiac pits off 39 between keysville and plant City. Property was a cow feild but now I think they are putting up subdivisions. If you can get to them ponds before all the public does there are monsters in there

I meant to use your work connections to gain lawful permission two fish areas. I should have been more clear. Yes, you are correct, they don't take kindly to trespassers, LOL. I fished many of them when I worked there.

Lol, I hear ya, I'll look into that. You wouldn't happen to have any contacts from when you worked there to get ahold of to help with that, would you?

Are you A or B platoon? I am on the A platoon in Orlando. Just wondering if we have the same rdo's. I fish the Butler Chain and put in at the FOP lodge on the Conway chain. If your up for the drive I'll fish. Better yet I would love to hit some areas out by you. Be safe.

Depends on what your A platoon is. Lol. We have 5 districts and 4 platoons per district. I'm on Charlie platoon I work 1800 to 0600. I would be working tonight and off tomorrow through Sunday, but I'm in FTO school, and tomorrow is the last day. In short we have alternating weeks, one with Wednesday and Thursday off and one where I only work Wednesday and Thursday.

So if you're on schedule with me, we can absolutely go, otherwise it'll take a bit of advanced scheduling.

yep this is my rdo weekend. sounds like we have the same schedule. FTO skool gees I remember that. I trained for a couple of years then gave it up. Boots never wanted to do squat but drive around in circles all night scared to do anything cause they were afraid to get NRT's. lol. Anyway cool man do you have a boat? I do but no trolling motor so makes it kinda hard. I still catch some fish but trolling motor helps. Anyway we'll have to catch some fish some day. Police work is just like fishing sometimes ya catch fish sometimes ya don't. Long live Grady Judd!!!

? Aren't they already NRT if they aren't doing anything constantly, lol. Well cool, we'll definitely have to go fish. I don't have a boat, too much money right now.

Any day fishing is better than a day at work. Sounds like you had a good time. Well at least I passed FTO. I'm going to head to saddle Creek in the morning with my dad, you're welcome to join.

Wish you would have joined us, we needed a boat. The cast netters have been at it again, didn't get a single bite from the shore, in the 4 hours we were out.

dang buddy that sucks. I only caught 2 2 pounders. I had my dog with me so I didn't fish as much as I would have liked too. He gets bored and wants to swim so I took him over to the island and let him run around. There was another dog out there so he had a good time.
